I use an iegeek. cheap as chips but does the job. I’ve had it years though. If I didn’t have one I’d get those fancy Bluetooth ones

I’ve got a foxwell nt301 for “home” really good for £40 ish. Will be fine for saxo just not very good for the higher end type cars.

Old biker you can’t make this up. The c class threw an esp dash light today and the iegeek didn’t pick up a fault code. Maybe it is time to get a fancy one!!!

I have VCDS for my Audis, much more advanced tool.

Then I have a 20 quid OBD2 reader/fault eraser from the local eurocarparts, just in case I need some instant roadside diagnosis or to erase an eventual limp mode.

well im a little fed up with my 1100 desire

it had a few ecu faults showing:
coil pack,
knock sensor,
throttle position sensor,
2 lambda sensors.

replaced all,
picked clear fault codes
i get the message all codes clear
but the ecu light stays on (thats an MOT instant fail)

lo and behold, it`s still showing a fault on the cat lambda.
i guess its a loom fault or faulty ecu (ecu is less likely)

having fitted four new tyres and spent plenty on the sensors
i am now thinking of selling it for a couple of hundred as parts or repair
its a shame really as the car runs well and only 40,500 on the clock.

any takers? steve

the lambda bank 1 sensor 2? the tolerances are very tight.

You are resetting the light with the ignition on and engine off? If you try and reset with the engine running the light won't go out.

sensor 2 needs to run through a complete cycle, so when you clear that it takes a good 40-50 miles for it to come back on. It just means the cat efficiency has dropped to about 97% or less.

Also make sure the connector doesn't have corrosion etc, the usual. Also have a quick look to make sure the wire hasn't landed on the exhaust and melted it.

Also, after resetting what are the actual codes its reporting back?

Thanks mate,
I don't seem able to delete or edit posts once they are up,
So I need to report it as an offensive post and ask moderators to delete or edit for me.

Complicated, but the moderators are helpful, I ran a durum for a while and things can get involved. Again thanks Manu
