Good Progress mate, think you could've probably got a better finish on the floor if you'd given it one more coat as the paint looks quite thin in places

Didn't realise you had a 182 as well. I love having both the saxo and the trophy at my disposal

Good progress mate

For anyone reading, the single best way to get it off is with a small blow torch and a wall paper scraper... Few seconds with the torch till it starts to bubble then straight on with the scraper and it just scrapes off like soft cheese

Edit- please be aware if doing it this way- the black pipes on the passenger side are your fuel lines! Move them out of the way and if possible shield them with something while using the torch!

Oh yeah another top tip if you dnt fancy using the blow torch is use a heat gun or a hair dryer (this will take longer) and a scraper.

Then to remove the glue I've used Autosmart tardis previously, pour or spray some on to the area, let it soak for a few minutes then rub it clean. Really easy, infact so easy I couldn't figure what all the fuss was about

Probably could do with another coat but now it's lacquered nothing's come off. Easy to wipe off mud now too I find, probably should have used a heat gone on the floor and not chemicals though

I thought you needed after market management to get a 1.8K turbo running in a gti? vvc is dead simple, can purcase a modded loom for not much money and run standard mems

Just done the valve clearances on this, much better now, top end is whispwr quiet save for the exhaust noise making a racket up the back end. Must have been a bit out before I think!

Hi mate just read through the thread and looks lyk you've got a nice vtr, it's really giving me the urge to get on with my car tbh, is it a difficult job to change the alternator belt?

Dead easy, you only need minimal tools. Slacken the alternator tensioner and the alternator bolts then it'll push back freeing up the belt, fit new belt then pull the alternator back out and re-tension it

Got some new door cards fitted today, bought from a user on here so thanks to them for sorting me out with these at a good price

Next up I think i'm going to do a coilpack conversion on this to HT leads as I managed to find them, swapping the cam cap at the end if I still have the rallye one though.

Looking good, some 106 door handles would go well with them door cards.

Do they have a cover which sits over the hole?
