Default Jon's icelandic Vtr turbo!! Back with project Blaxo!

hi,
i bought my little saxo the other month after my previous car caught fire
after a few weeks without a car, i had my eyes set on a fiesta zetec-s.. after looking around and struggling to find a half descent one, my manager at work suggested a vtr. I really didnt want to buy a saxo, but weighed it out against the fiesta and thought it would be better to find a vtr. Cheap to insure, cheap parts, easy to fix and rust free !

anyway, after ringing around and people not picking up phones with cars for sale, i recieved a call back saying he had a missed call, i asked if he had his saxo for sale still and he did, off i went to view it (insurance already on standby at this point). I loved it. There were a few cosmetic things that needed sorting but i knew i wanted it.
After some negotiating, it was mine for £950. 2 previous owners and full service history completely standard

down the lake a few days after i bought it

new fog light and new chrome standard rear box

thinking of sorthing the breating out and possibly colour coding the black trim bits?
any thoughts of how this would look

Engine spec-
4-1 toyo manifold

Brakes & Suspension-
Apex front shocks
Apex 50mm lowering springs
Polybushed rear axle
PI rear shocks

283mm discs+brembo calipers

Turbo engine (so far)-
2000 vtr engine
honed cylinders
new piston rings
new end shells ect
2mm decompression plate *now gone*
1.5mm headgasket
cituning manifold
2.5'' A.A.S custom turbo back exhaust
Saab 9-5 injectors
Predator ECU
Front mount intercooler
Turbo -GT17rs
Innovate Lc2 wideband
Mocal oil cooler+ remote filter

since reading everypage of blackies thread, ive decided to go boost!

im planning this over a period of time and just buy bits here and there until she is ready to be all put together.
i Bought myself a low mileage Vtr engine and im planning on stripping it down and rebuilding it. Going to take the head off and do a bit of work to it, uprate the valve springs (not sure what ones to go for yet).

planning on low boost and hoping for about 180ish bhp.
i know i need to uprate suspension and brakes and that will be done, ive got some apex springs sitting in the boot, i want to buy some decent shocks before she gets a drop.
ill get a list together of what im planning and hopefully get some advice from you guys as to wether its a good move or not

just a small update on how things are going,

the engine i had bought has been pulled apart and new piston rings have gone in, along with some new end shells.

ive also done some headwork whilst its off during my lunchbreaks at work

ive also have a few goodies turn up in the post bought from some members on here;
*406 brembo front brakes, 283mm discs and braided hoses (to be fitted)
*front suspension sorted, apex front springs and shocks, and PI rear shocks. To be lowered after christmas !
*2.5'' stainless turbo back system courtesy of White_Vtr on here (thankyou)
* some Saxp stickers for the rear windows !
* black angel eye headlights

with the suspension on, it handles so much better! i used to be a bit cautious as to what it would do, but it feels so much more surefooted now!

UPDATE SOON AND PICS TO FOLLOW

Some pics of the work so far,

refurbed calipers

1)i need some advice on my parts list and some pointers in the right direction-
MAP sensor location, is it just a case of removing the old MAP sensor and replacing it with a 2bar MAP sensor?

2)Injectors? which injectors will fit in the VTR head, i know the rail might need a bit of modifying, but what injectors can i use?

3)fuel pressure regulator? is the need for one essential? if so, where is it located on a VTR and what should i replace it with? ive found people to have said run a 4bar FPR.

4)standalone ECU-this one is a bit up for debate! it is between the predator or an OMEX 600, im being swayed towards the omex, but the simplicity of the pred seems appealing to me just plug and play.
I want to bring my car to ATSPEED to get it remapped and i know they like the omex system, my only doubt is im not sure what i need to get it wired up regarding the looms ect. so any help would be great!

im not rushing this build, going to take my time and hopefully get it right first time round!

Looking good man!

To change the thread title, you can either edit it in your first post by going to advanced settings or double click next to the title where it shows up on the 'your car photos..' page and should come up with a box for you to be able to change it
