Default Few Computer Problems

Got a few problems with my computer and the screen and would like some help.

First off everytime I switch my screen on, I get the blue power button flickering on and off for about 5 - 10 mins before the actuall screen image comes on, does this indicate the screen is on it's way out...

Secondly, granted my computer isnt the newest about 6 - 7 years old but sometimes iI load up as normal and when I come to turn off I click the button and nothing happens almost as if the button is dead along with the internet button nothing happens when I double click

thanks

1 - the monitor is more than likely on its last legs mate.

2 - could be a few things, spyware/virus. Best bet for a system boost is to reinstall the operating system.

Power light on monitor flickering is usually due to it not receiving a signal. Are you cables loose at all?

Not too sure which button you mean when you're closing it down. Do you go to start - shut down - turn off computer? Is it even on windows XP?

when i got a new flatscreen off ebay, i had the same problem, it flickered on and off, but it didn't come on at all. I had to send it back and get a replacement, so its more likely your due for a new monitor mate. Can get some real bargains off ebay.

yeah.. the monitors been covered, sounds like its fudged, but i agree with the 2nd post,, maybe an operating system re install may help with this one .. after time your pc just gets clogged and drivers go missing and stuff... re installing O/S will just refresh everything... including your files so back them up
