Rally Designs Coilover kits?
I was informed recently that fitting the solid top mounts I have may raise the front end by 25mm or so. I thought i'd have a look into these coilover conversions that rally designs do. The bits seem pretty cheap so I MIGHT be able to afford this option. I know they won't be amazing BUT for the bit of track driving i'm planning they'll do until I can get some Gaz sourced.
Anyone had any experience with them?
What bits should I be getting?
I'll be running the will Bilstein B8's and standard ARB's, so what sort of poundage spring should I go for?
I was thinking that the following would do the job?
Springs
Threaded Tube Kit
Any ideas or other alternatives?
I am on a tight budget at the minute so Don't know what to do for the best. I might just leave the topmounts off until I can afford a better option.

I saw that Stu, SexyGT used a set so I've PM'd him. I think they will do the job. I measured the struts etc and they should all fit together.
Main thing I want to know is if the ride height will be affected as I have been told. If it does then I'll get some money from somewhere to get the bits.

Lol. I'd love to have a great setup but I doubt I'd be able to afford them.
This is why the R/D setup is the only option for me at the minute. Just to satisfy my curiosity PM me with a price

Why would the rally design kit do for the moment? You can use the rslly design kit and build coilovers that are much greater than the gaz kit. If anything you should be saying gaz will do until u get a decent rally design setup done.
The rally design kit is fine, weld the threaded collar on and fit your springs and dampers etc, then when you can afford better, forget about gaz and get some pugsport inserts and fresh springs.

On b8s DONT
you need at least 225lb on these to not go coilbound so just hold fire till you get better dampers
B8s and 225s will be under damped
Agree with danny though
Pugsport inserts in this kit over gaz any day

K, sod it. I'll leave the setup as it is then and look at getting these bits later along with some other dampers. Shame, I wanted to fit the new top mounts with all the other newish bits but, they can wait.
Out of interest, is it just caster that changes with the different bolt orientation on the top mounts? I noticed while playing with them that one way round the strut is held to the rear of the hole and the other way round it is held to the front.

Yes thats just caster
Its for cars without pas as standard they run in the forward position
I allways run them rearwards
If you have the same topmounts i did you can tweak a tiny bit more if you mod the shell right

Alan are those the old compbrake top mounts? If so check that the top mount holes line up, many of the older ones don't (compbrake cocked up measurements initially and refused to accept they were wrong for quite a while) and require filing out of the existing holes.

Yeah, i know about the hole adjustment.
Had a look again at these while Sam was here earlier. I see what your on about Alex!!
Think I'm going to have to look at running the stock top mounts..... OR.... mod them..... OR.... Spunk more money I don't have!!
Would 300lb springs be better with the B8's then??

your going the wrong way
b8s run out of ability around 165-170 lb
to run a spring that low a rate in a 2.25" id it will go coilbound very easy thats the problem
to run a rate that wont go coilbound you need beefier dampers
