Where do I stand - Saxperience

Hi everyone,

Car was written off 6 -7 weeks ago so after I was told this I went to the tax office to claim the remaining tax back on my car which was 5 months or so.

When I went to the tax office everything appeared to be straight forward, fill in a form and send it off and you will receive a cheque in the post in a couple of weeks.

Got a letter back to say that something was wrong and that I need to fill in a form to show who scrapped / salvaged my car and on what date.

Currently waiting on other persons insurance group to e-mail the salvage company so that I can get my tax.

On the letter I received it says that I will only receive my tax back from when I send this letter back.

Who's fault is this?

It cannot be my fault about how this is working out so who do I put the blame on?

But how could it be my fault if I wasn't given a form.

I went to the tax office with my disk and they told me to fill out the form i.e. has your car been scrapped - I ticked yes.

There was no mention of who scrapped it.

I explained the situation to the woman in the tax office and she said I will receive a cheque within a couple of weeks.

If you can claim from when you send the letter back, £100 devided by 6.. 15, give or take.. So a months worth of tax is around £15... I'm sure it won't take a month for the insurance company to get back to you will it.

Why not ring, instead of email, then you can know in 20 minutes.

As Craig said, should have filled the form in correctly. I've never had a problem

Perhaps you should have checked that the form you were completing was a V14?

I have rang the insurance today and they told me that they haven't confirmed with the salvage company that the car has been scrapped.

This means the insurance company haven't down what needed to be done.

I then rang the salvage company as the insurance company said they send an e-mail to them and guess what, the salvage company haven't received anything yet.

You have the name of the salvage company then, put their name on the form saying the have scrapped it.

Well I think it should be up to the tax office to provide valid info.

They are getting paid enough to do that.

If I give out wrong info in work I would get nailed for it so why is it not the same situation with the tax office.

It all boils down to the insurance company not advising the salvage company to scrap the car does it not?

If I did fill the form out right (which I did) and say that the car was scrapped it's going to come through as being wrong as the salvage company haven't scrapped it yet.

I have now done that on this form but I cannot do anything until the insurance send a e-mail to the salvage company to scrap the car.

The car isn't scrapped so if I send it off I am going to get the same reply.

IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I FILL OUT THE FORM BECAUSE THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAVE NOT TOLD THE SALVAGE COMPANY TO SCRAP THE CAR SO THEREFORE THE CAR IS NOT SCRAPPED YET.

IF I FILL OUT THE FORM SAYING THE CAR IS SCRAPPED AGAIN THERE JUST GOING TO COME BACK SAYING THAT IT HASN'T BEEN SCRAPPED.

Fucking hell. By the time you have sent the letter and they actually look at it anyway, it will probably have been scrapped, or they will just take the name of it as scrapped. I very much doubt they have the time to ring and check every single one.

Your 1st post clearly tries to shift the blame to anyone but yourself. You ASSUMED the car had been scrapped. Maybe you should have got confirmation of that before sending the form.
