Important! : rear damper bolt realy loose, help!! - Saxperience

my car had its mot this morning, while it was up on the ramps the test man showed me a bolt that was loose on the bottom of the rear damper, its the bolt that connects the damper to the axle,
its as tight as it will go but still got loads of play in it like there is a bush missing or somthing,
any one got any ideas of what it could be? or what part i would need?

The bush could be worn?

If not then i would say in the past the wrong bolt has been re-fitted. Citroen will be able to give you the correct bolt - shouldn't cost a lot and can fit yourself.

the bolt is exectly the same as the other side though and there is no movement in that, should there be a bush on the axle side of the bolt?

do you no where i could get a bush from ive looked on a few places and cant find any?

there should be a bush in the damper end, with a metal cylinder in the bush for the bolt to go through.

You can't buy the damper bushes seperately - I'de fit a new/second hand set of rear dampers. Might be worth removing it first and see if you can see anything wrong - should be fairly obvious why there's movement.

you can't buy a rear damper bush. is going to be cheaper to get a 2nd hand set of shocks, or new shocks depending on what you've got now, than to get a bush made up.

Might not even be the bush - I'm just speculating seeing as you say the bolt is the same as the other side which is nice and tight.

as said before, you can't buy the bush seperately. you need the whole damper.

the bolts not moving on the damper part though its moving on the axle part next to the damper?

so could be the rear beam bushes? Did the mechanic not tell you what was wrong when he moved it? Wouldn't this have been an MOT fail?

could be yea, isit called the trailing arm? he put it down as an advisory, he just said needs a new bush, but im trying to fiind out which bush i need or what its called

Tbh I'm confused as to what part is moving. In the first post you say it's the bolt, but then say it isn't the bolt.

If it isn't the bolt, then could be a slight bit of movement in the trailing arm bearings.

Could be a rear beam bush

Could be a rear damper bush

the bolt is moving aswell as the damper, the damper wobbles about if you shake it so must be the shocker gone
