Default Wiring issues!

Basically my wipers have been fucked for ages, it started when the window washer motor came disconnected from the wire its connected to, when i took the wire out i accidentally pressed the stalk to get the window washer on, and the wire started to smoke. about 5 minutes later the front wipers, rear wipers, window washer pump, and wiper timing wouldnt work, exact same symptoms as the fuse that controls all of them, iv replaced the fuse numerous times and theres nothing wrong with them, iv also replaced the relay, but still none of the above will work,

is it possible that there is a wiring fault beause it was smoking, couldve burnt one of the wires out? and how can i tell if i have, whats the thing that you can plug into a wire to see if it has charge at both ends? would that work? cheers in advance

The machine u can put on the wiring is called a multimeter, if u can get one, set it to 12v and if the reading is odd then u know the wiring is fucked
