What engine do I have ?
Again, relating to my recently acquired saxo vts which has had an engine swap.. Looks like the engine is from a C2 vts. it has a blue dipstick which I have only seen on a photo of a C2 vts engine for sale, the dipstick is way over on the right hand side compared to being in between exhaust port outlets on other engines.
I am assuming it is a JP4S but wondered if anyone could confirm it - mainly based on the blue dipstick!
Cheers
Craig

Could just be a normal JP4.

Who knows. I don't... It's a spin on filter rather than cartridge and there's no sign of a blanking plug next to the filter so doesn't look converted, if that helps.
I can find pics of JP4 and JP4s engines online with mixtures of oil dipstick position and colour. Doesn't seem to be any rule to it. What's the significance ?

My best guess on this is that it is a JP4s, based on pictures. Would I be right in saying that the JP4s started getting fitted around 2006? So far all the C2 VTS engine bays on cars 2006 onwards seem to have the same dipstick position and it's also blue. Older ones seem to have the more inboard dipstick position and it is typically grey.

look at the head just above the thermostat housing, the type of head/engine is cast into it there

Great thanks, I will have a look. Need to look at the gearbox code too - I am convinced the ratios are too long for it to be a VTS box. Pretty sure I did nearly 40mph in 1st at about 6,500 RPM. This would equate more to a VTR box I think!
