14" for 266mm, 15" for 283mm.

you need the calipers discs and pads, sometimes longer brake hoses, and the bolts depending on which calipers came off.

no point taking them, they're the same as vented saxo brakes.

yea probably better than eastcoast brakes, assuming they use solid discs as standard?

Some of the larger older style calipers need grinding back.

I have some 307 283mm brakes that I would sell for £60 posted to Armagh. They *should* bolt straight on without the need for grinding, I have some on my s1 106 and had them on my saxo and fit fine. I have also had some older 306 266mm calipers that needed grinding but very easy to do.

Jeff, wthout wishing to get anyone in trouble - inbox me if the 266mm are for sale and in reasonable condition

Is this still the best option for upgrading from solid 247mm disks with Bendix calipers under 14" steels? and do you need to fit a slightly larger diameter master cylinder as the 306 calipers have slightly bigger diameter pistons.

266 is probably the best to go for

personally I'd keep 247mm but fit vented 247 and GTi/VTS calipers with good pads.

Is there any difference in braking power between the (4stud) bendix/solid disk setup and the VTR/VTS setup?

If there was no such thing as brake fade, then in theory the braking force applied to the pads would be the same as the pistons in the calipers are the same (and the discs are the same 247mm diameter) diameter from memory.

but solid discs fade after a few light presses on the pedal. I drive on solid discs every day and you can forget even driving remotely fast on a back road. They're shit compared to a GTi/VTS setup.

the GTi/VTS calipers also have cooling fins on the calipers to help with cooling.
