Just to doubbley make sure your not glancing at the pic, Youre photo and mie were taken from different sides. Still there definately different. I would be seriously suspicious of those pistons causing all your trouble.

Different sides? Yeah, yours is back to front, as in you took the pic (assuming the engine is fitted) from inside the car. Mine was took standing in front of the car.

Even if the pistons were the issue, you had PAID matt to machine them to fit, therefore the were machined incorrectly.

It would appear he wasn't aware that the pockets were in a slightly different position.
The maching he did was to drop the CR.

Hi,
Late addition I know but I'm sure like many have already said it'll come right in the end and once your behind the wheel all the stress/expence will all be worth it, I would have faith in the people re-building the engine, I'm sure there even more focused on the finer details of ensuring its done right for the second time  .

You must be gutted after what has happened.
Although im sure once its complete and performing as it should do then thats a bit of a bonus.
Very un proffesional of them to charge you extra though.
Personally i would be embarassed if something failed which i had worked on/checked.
The good old saying of "It takes years to build up a good reputation and only takes one mistake to ruin it"
Good to see the ATP bodies are performing as they should do though

Have to say i do agree with the comment about the extra charges...but anyway, as long as it works well and is reliable when you get it back, AND, that you're happy with it, that's the main thing mate, and I hope you are dude What sort of power will she be running then?
