Default wiring under seats

Hi All,

I'm fitting 2003 seats to a 2000 VTS (they are standard VTS seats just from a later car). As my car did not come with seat airbags, I understand that I only want to wire in the cable which would normally have been wired on my car, however this has made me wonder something - what is the under seat wire actually for?

I believe the car will have seatbelt pre-tensioners, but I presume the supply to these will go to the inertial reel? What is the wire under the seat for (the one that is on all cars with airbag systems, I understand one of the other ones is for the seat side airbag and I think the third one - green - is just an earth wire?)

The wire under the seat goes to the seatbelt pre-tensioner. it's attached to the seat and it pulls the buckle down.

Ah... OK. I thought pretensioners worked by ratcheting at the inertia reel side. Or is that additional to that ? So that you are held tight across the body and the lap?

I thought maybe it was a pressure pad to detect if someone is sitting in the seat.

There is nothing on the reel itself, that's extra cost. it's a Citroen you're driving remember

Only the buckle.

I don't think any have pressure pads, all the airbags go off regardless.

yeah you're right, I inspected the seat and I can see the canister connected to the buckle. That solves where the wires are supposed to go to!

Thanks for the information, very helpful.
