Wireless router with nintendo Wii
quick question. I'm wanting to order a wireless router so i can connect my Wii to the internet? As i've had no experience at all in wireless routers, can somebody show me the right direction, what would be the best one? Are they the same or do you get certain routers for certain things? Thanks.

Or you planning something slightly less serious?

How do you mean? I'm with virgin media, and its connected with an ethernet cable, which runs from a modem which is connected to the virgin cable box?

You can get a USB Dongle for your PC to use the internet wirelessly, but I would highly recommend an internal Wireless PCI card. Much more reliable and faster In my experience.
BUT...you can still hook the PC up via ethernet cable if you want to.
My brother has his Wii running wirelessly using a Belkin USB dongle with no configuration needed, never has any problems. The routers I would go for as previously stated by Woody are LinkSYS or NetGear.
Hope this helps.

so do i need the usb dongle thing to plug into the wii aswel? Or is it built in on the wii? And if i choose to run my pc off the ethernet conection, do i need some sort of splitter to split from the wireless ethernet connector and the PC ethernet connector?

im with virgin and bought a wireless router for my ps3. i got a belkin one which works fine, just plugs into the virgin modem and the ps3 picked it up no probs. no sure if you need a dongle tho i dont own a wii and dont know if it has a wireless card in it. tho im going back to wired, wireless seems abit dodgy even tho ive got 100% signal strength.

I've no idea whether the Wii has built in wireless. My brother said he couldnt find an option for it. But he isn't as literate with hardware as I am.
As far as I know you need a dongle for the Wii to pick up the wireless signal. My brothers Wii doesnt have ethernet, and to be honest, i dont know if any of them have.
As for the PC, you can either get a wireless card for it (PCI Card) and use it wirelessly, or run a cable from the router to the PC.

ok sorted. I'm with Virgin too, so i just plug the router into the modem? Keep my ethernet linked upto my PC and just use the wireless for my nintendo Wii? Sounds like a plan to me. I was looking at Belkin, Netgear or Linksys anyways. Thanks guys
