Some minor updates.
I bought some forged pistons and a block already honed for them, so just need to get the little ends of the forged rods machined and new fozzy bushes put on - probably arse end of summer for that.
Current engine and turbo are working ok for now, so I'm planning to run a couple of track days this year in it. Early July or late June track day at Blyton might be on the cards.
Bagged some new wheels and sold the VTS ones. Always loved Turinis and they are mint.
Pistons:
The cross bar of the cage had been 'straightened' by the previous owner with a hammer. I had a new one fabricated.
Made some door cards and installed the lower bins from a 106.
I finally invested in Gaz coilovers with 300lb springs. Mated them to my old struts (with stud and nut conversion) as they had new wheel bearings. Top mounts next thing to buy, but on my old track car, I did OK with stock top mounts.
Looking forward to testing out the adjustable front dampers.
I dug out all my old track parts and previously purchased suspension parts and rebuilt the lot.
- New rear wishbone polybushes
- Middle wishbone polybushes
- New ball joints
- Polybush anti-rollbar bushes
- New track rod ends
- New drop links
Only thing left to do on the front was to get some semi-decent pads for track and road use.
Previously I've used DS3000 pads but they destroyed my discs and took an age to get up to temperature - but were awesome. I went a bit more sedate this time with the DS2500. I'm not a fan of the 266 setup and have some 283's ready to go on, but the discs on the 266 are new - so might as well use them until the pads are done for.
Tomorrows task is to complete the drivers side strut (as only half done).
Hopefully the postman will bring my 15mm spacers as well, to pad the turinis out.
Got the bug back for this now, so will move onto the rear axle in the next couple of weeks.
