Not sure if the k-seal is the same as those liquids that seal around fire rings? Guess if its like that it wont seal up a crack block as its not hot enough there for it to work.

K Seal should fix it (according to the box).

Thats handy you have another two engines to fit. Should keep you going for a while :-).

Decided to stick head on mine to get it up and running. Plan is to then get a vts engine and do a forged rebuild ready for the future.

Good idea chief. Get the head on and get boosting.
I think I might save £10 a month, by 2019 I'll have enough for some rod bolts.

I haven't been in the garage for ages, due to our second child being born in May. But a few steps have been taken... and a few back.

I bought a half cage, that probably wasn't meant for a Saxo and had that welded in. I managed to track down the false floor that someone had made for it also, but I'm not sure whether to use it or not.

Also acquired some PEC forged rods & ARP bolts - to go in 'an' engine - not sure it'll be the one I'm going to put in it to get the newer/bigger turbo installed.

I bought some door cards, but the quality wasn't what I was looking for, so the door skins are still exposed for now.

Sorted a pair of seat subframes, so just a set of harnesses needed (and door cards) to finish the interior.

Bought a twin guage pod for the A-pillar (to house the AFR & Boost gauge)

Hopefully during winter, some real work can commence. Struggling to juggle family life, work and recreation at the moment.

Can you make picture of water cooling for turbo? Where it is connected?

It's just a T-piece in and out of the heater matrix pipe from the thermostat housing, with a restrictor.

I ran several different solutions to that. The best by far was to give it a dedicated feed.

Harnesses procured, so they're installed.
But the MOT has run out.
Booked in for a Saturday test, so I washed it.

ASW

No engine progress still.

Some minor updates.

I bought some forged pistons and a block already honed for them, so just need to get the little ends of the forged rods machined and new fozzy bushes put on - probably arse end of summer for that.

Current engine and turbo are working ok for now, so I'm planning to run a couple of track days this year in it. Early July or late June track day at Blyton might be on the cards.

Bagged some new wheels and sold the VTS ones. Always loved Turinis and they are mint.

Pistons:

The cross bar of the cage had been 'straightened' by the previous owner with a hammer. I had a new one fabricated.

Made some door cards and installed the lower bins from a 106.

I finally invested in Gaz coilovers with 300lb springs. Mated them to my old struts (with stud and nut conversion) as they had new wheel bearings. Top mounts next thing to buy, but on my old track car, I did OK with stock top mounts.
Looking forward to testing out the adjustable front dampers.

I dug out all my old track parts and previously purchased suspension parts and rebuilt the lot.

- New rear wishbone polybushes
- Middle wishbone polybushes
- New ball joints
- Polybush anti-rollbar bushes
- New track rod ends
- New drop links

Only thing left to do on the front was to get some semi-decent pads for track and road use.
Previously I've used DS3000 pads but they destroyed my discs and took an age to get up to temperature - but were awesome. I went a bit more sedate this time with the DS2500. I'm not a fan of the 266 setup and have some 283's ready to go on, but the discs on the 266 are new - so might as well use them until the pads are done for.

Tomorrows task is to complete the drivers side strut (as only half done).
Hopefully the postman will bring my 15mm spacers as well, to pad the turinis out.

Got the bug back for this now, so will move onto the rear axle in the next couple of weeks.

I mentioned last year about the crack in the block of this engine.... well after I dismissed K-seal, it actually did work! I left it a few weeks, went back and it hasn't leaked in over 6 months. Amazing stuff.
But its only to limp it along until the forged engine and new turbo.

Good to see this car isn't dead, it wasn't the mintest of cars back when I mapped it some moons ago, so it's nice to see it getting some love and that it's not been thrashed, crashed and scrapped. Put a lot of work into that job.

My own C2 turbo is nearing completion now, using the stock ECU (of course) :-)
