Default Clio 182 Track Car

So... I've had several people bully me into posting a thread about the Clio I'm building with a mate, so here it is finally.

Started life as a 4 owner 182 cup, in racing blue (sorry, no photos of it before we started work):

Mods so far:
New rear discs, pads & bearings etc (standard), hoses (HEL).
New front discs (brembo), pads (Carbon Lorane CL6), hoses (HEL) and fluid (RBF600).
New top mounts etc.
Fully polybushed with Powerflex Black inc engine mounts and exhaust.
Fully stripped interior, inc all sound proofing and matting.
Federal 595 RS-R tyres on the 16" alloys, Toyo R888's on the 15" alloys.
Spax RSX coilovers all round (awaiting delivery)
Mirco RS2 bucket seats and 6 point TRS harnesses (awaiting delivery)

To do:
Multipoint roll cage fitting by JC Weldfab.
Windscreen replacement (will be done as part of cage fit).
Air ducts from fog light location to brakes.
Interior respray in gloss white (going to do ourselves).
Devise door car solution (carbon/plastic etc).
Fit new steering wheel (well, old one actually but a Porsche one my codriver wants to fit).
Thrash fuck out of it.

I've done some simple bits and bobs too - like tidy stuff up. Clean wheels, refurb headlights (standard clio headlights always go cloudy), clean car in general etc. It was a bit sorry for itself. Tyres in the photo are the old ones - RSR's are now on.

Then cleaned up the wheel hub face too obviously:

Will maybe refurb them at some point as these are our main wheel and looking good is after all 90% of going fast.

JC Weldfab cage is looking to be epic. They're also going to fit our seat rails etc. Car will be with them for a week in about two weeks time - we'll need to go and visit them mid-week for a seat fitting so the rails etc are all done right.

We'll probably want a new exhaust soon too, so again it'll be a chat with JC Weldfab as they're basically fucking epic with bespoke exhausts (have done my RS4 exhaust). Failing that (as it'll likely be expensive) we'll end up with a scorpion system or something. Meh.

We'll need to be putting sponsor logos on the car as naturally I'm not paying full price for anything being a tight bastard, so our cage supplier gets a huge logo over the rear quarter and glass etc - that'll give my sticker machine a workout for sure.

Sorry for lack of photos - I'll get more next time I'm working on it.

Not much to add yet. Still slogging away. Today we finished rear brakes (bastard rear calipers).
I also installed the solid top mounts, and started to get to grips with the suspension (not installed yet but at least we've built it up).

PMS top mounts? With those and the Strut brace they make for a very bumpy ride with my Eibachs. Let me know how you get on with the SPAX coilovers!

It's in for its cage at the moment. We're about half way through.

There's another cross brace to go in the rear, then an x frame across the b posts to main hoop, and the door bars are getting tidied up with nice plates.

Exhaust should be done next week after cage is finished, then we can pick her up.

Cage and exhaust are finished. Cars a fucking monster now. Pulls REALLY strong in the midrange now and sounds crazy good for a 4 pot.

Over the moon. Next up, interior respray - will be matt black.

Cheers mick. Yeah their fab work is second to none so we're over the moon. It's unbelievable in the flesh - can't wait to get it all one colour and tidied up etc. Proper little track car now!

I will be needing to see this in person at some point.

Cage just looks fucking mean, I love it! Really coming along well mate, as usual you've progressed immensely in a short-ish period of time. What's your plans power wise in the future? Jenvey 90mm trumpets/shrick cams or something a little different? I'd love to get my hands on an RS2 inlet, but they just don't come up at all, and the manufacturer hasn't quite got them back up and running atm.
