Default Gearbox to Saxo 8v

Hello Saxperience
I'm using my Saxo 1,6 8v vtr for rally light in Denmark which is legal road cars going for small maneuver races which is 3-5 km long.

My gearbox the original 1,6 8v is going for a change soon and I need to know if I would win anything in acceleration with a 16v / GTI gearbox instead?
The ideal would be a 1300 gearbox but I cant find anyone in a good condition and I am offered a cheap GTI gearbox.

Does anyone know the 2 gearbox codes, and the gearings on them?
and would i win any acceleration with a gti gearbox?

thanks

Yes. Final drive is lower on the 16v box, so you would/should notice an improvement with a reduced top speed.
Xsi boxes are also a good all rounder but hard to locate.
Search the forum for final drive and ratios, there's been many debates and a spreadsheet was produced
