Default My Gold Saxo VTR Progress Thread

Hi. I have had my Saxo since around May and have not done an awful lot to it so far apart from smartening it up. I am hoping to have a busy winter of styling and modifying.
I started off with a Corsa B and then moved onto a 5 door Saxo VSX, which I loved and it really got me into the Saxos.
As my Saxo was in amazing condition with good mileage I considered modifying it but thought it was cost a lot of money when I could just buy a VTR that is already sporty. So here I am now with my VTR and I really do love it. Such a fun and good looking car in my opinion.

These pictures are of my old Saxo VSX

When I bought my Saxo VTR it was already lowered and had Fox racing alloys. The front bumper was slightly hanging off, the right headlight was a lot out of line. It looked like this:

Unfortunately not long after this I started to have problems. The biggest one is most peoples worst nightmate...the headgasket went. This cost me £400 including having a new starter motor and timing belt.
After this I found at that the ignition key wasnt the original and the original one is actually underneath the steering wheel, still wired up and being used as a byepass for the ECU.
So as you can probably tell things didnt start off well and I was very ennoyed as I am pretty sure the last owner new of these problems. Luckily since the headgasket change the car has been brilliant and not really had any problems.
After changing the rear lights and sorting bits of the body work out the car now looks like this:

I have fitted a quickshift air filter (dont have any proper bay pictures yet) and a strut brace. I have sprayed a few bits red under the bonnet as well such as the ECU cover.
Just recently I have began spraying a black mouth on the front bottom grill part of the car. The following pictures show how it is looking so far:

I have just had my 3rd hip operation so my car is off the road for a couple of months and im bed ridden for a good few weeks. I have a nice long list of things still to do, mainly things just to smarten it up as well as performance wise.

Any opinions welcome (apart from ripping it apart ) and if anyone has some good ideas on improvement then feel free to let me know.

Looks nice mate,
You should get a list of your plans written up on here.

I think you should smoke the front lights.. would go well with the black bumper bit..

Really like those alloys!

There's a guide on how to do the lights on here somewhere...
or you can buy new ones.. http://www.cituninguk.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=864
I bought new ones as my car failed its MOT on loose headlights.

How much has the car been lowered by? looks a really good height.

yer they are really nice, I think id rather buy them than do that myself. To be honest I am not quite sure on the height, I keep meaning to find out from my mechanic friend, it was done when I bought it. I notice you dont live far from me.

Yeh, living just outside loughborough!

Car looks about 40 ish.. Mine is lowered 40 at the front, and going to get the back done tomorrow. Maybe 50-60.. not sure yet..
Speed bumps are already fun, so it cant get much worse really..

yer speed bumps are a shocker lol, and I live on an estate which is full of them. I was thinking 40, the back looks higher at the moment as the back seats are out and did seem to lift it a tiny bit. I have some bucket seats I bought that were going to go in but think id rather get the gti full leather interior and jst have it looking as smart as possible.

Here is a long list of everything that needs doing as well as things that I am hoping to do:
New front wheel arch liner
Take off sideskirts and arches and fit back on better, maybe tiger seal
New bonnet liner or replace with decal
New boot carpet
New rad and fan...spray fan red
Strip out carpet, spray floor and then relay carpet and seats
Fit front fog lights and tint them
Polish manifold cover
Finish off front mouth
Maybe swap back to original air filter with a K&N filter inside the box
Have carpet and seats professionally cleaned (by my dad-carpet cleaner)
Green stuff pads and drilled brake discs
Freshen up the red calipers
Refurb alloys and spray/powdercoat black
New driveshaft gaitor
Toad Cat One alarm
New gear gaitor/quickshift
Red Matts or Red rallye carpet with aluminium matts
GTI leather interior
Red HT leads
Full service
New vinyl on B pillar
Sand and spray battery holder
Black Vinyl roof
Build Ipod Dock
Light smoke rear windows
Janspeed 4-2-1 exhaust manifold + sports CAT
3" Janspeed exhaust

Some of these things arent very exciting but need to be done. Want it to end up being spotless.

On the move before the rear lights were changed and rear badges were T-Cutted. I also had the tinted back windows in at the time but decided I am going to go for light tints in back windows and screen.

Hi guys. I am seriously thinking of selling my much loved Saxo. I am not going to be driving for another 2-3 months now and dont want it sitting throughout the winter months.
A few of the details are:

72000 miles (a bit under)
MOT April 2010
Spotless interior and exterior
It was a CAT C write off in 2008 (maybe 2007), but was repaired properly, passes MOT's fine and has had the VIC check etc
Fox alloys with some curbing but not too bad at all
Comes with spare rear tinted windows and spare battery
Has a quickshift air filter

Looking for Sensible offers. I suppose the quicker it goes the less time it has to sit in the cold.
