Just a shame this car wasnt properly treated by previous owners. 5 minutes washing the skirts out with a pressure washer every month or two and this wouldnt have had to be done I reckon.

After painting the inside of the sill from the rear on the nearside, I thought I'd do the offside. Came to check it and it was packed with mud although still solid and not too rust, so I blasted all that mud and crap out with the pressure washer from inside the car, dried it and then filled with a runny solution of shultz thinned out with thinners so it was able to flow more and gave it a good brush around. Then it got a wash along with the clio and the missus' vectra. Also washed the arches out on everything and the undersides to rid everything of road salt, so to do this had to get everything up on stands to do underside with the jet wash.

Change the inlet pipework for something I bashed together. Sits a bit better now in the engine bay, although I might get a mk2 filter box at some point.
Car is totally filthy somehow, looks like its done a rally stage. Must be the weather and dirty snow
Also purchased a green with yellow band CTS, fitted it and rebled the coolant. Have to see how it affects the idle and mixture, compared to the old blue one with grey band

Cheers mate but trust me its not mint at all. Solid now at least but some of the paint on panels is in really poor condition, new panels would sort it I guess though. Was never the point of it to be concourse mind you, just as long as its all roughly the same colour will do me

the answer is why not? A lot of people own two or more of the very same model of car.

Just found the lower part of the VTR cambelt cover in the shed, so I'm going to fit that on tomorrow so I can at least cover the top pulley and have a tidier engine bay.

Had a few beers and was bored so scrubbed up the old cambelt covers I found then gave it a coat in satin black
Fitted it today, had to remove the engine mount etc.
Alternator belt was shot so got one of these and fitted it
All finished, Engine bay will be cleaned tomorrow probably
Found this in the loom, seems somethings been joined any ideas what those colours of the wires do? ones brown and green other is red/brown solid colour

Had a bit of free time tonight so I took the heat shield off above the exhaust, was crusty but may clean up. Not sure if I'll bother putting it back though?
Painted and under sealed above the exhaust after a whizz over with the flap disc
Then I had look at the sound deadening in the footwells. Only managed to get half done before it became a bit late to be hammering away with a chisel so I'll carry on another night

Same goes for the manifold flange, its a bit manky

cheers guys. The pound shop stuff isn't brilliant but it did the job. A lot cheaper than the branded muc off stuff too
