WIth regard to the length, I think Willsy is going to get the AT Power bodies, and he'll be using a set of horns which are 20mm longer than mine. If we can get on the same rollers at the same time, we can interchange them, (they just screw on and off) and see if effects the power. Should be really interesting. I like messing about with stuff like this. If for whatever reason there's gains to be had from these longer ones, I can easily order a set from AT Power. Simples

The videos aren't that great. Sounds good though.

What are doing working at 11pm?! Doesn't sounds good...

Thing is even when just swapping them over you've got to remember yours is mapped for the shorter ones

It's not really gonna have much of an effect on the igntion or fuelling though. If there is a difference, it will be noticeable either way I would imagine. It's a bit like putting an airbox on. You change the distance between the end of the horns and the (what was) bulkhead, changing the pulses. But you're not really gonna get it mapped again unless you have crazy deep pockets and or own a RR. lol. I believe some race setups go to the extreme of putting a plate behind the bodies, and do power runs each time they move the plate further or nearer the trumpets to see what effect the pulses make on the power, but this is getting a bit much for us peeps.

Of course its going to have an effect on fuelling. Changing the inlet length affects the volumetric efficiency of the engine at different rpms. Hence if the engine is more volumetric efficient with longer trumpets at say 6000rpm than it was with shorter trumpets, then the fuelling will have to be changed to achieve correct AFR. If your ecu support wideband feedback then this can easilly be changed.

As I stated, it's not going to have *much* of an effect. You really think it's gonna run lean or rich by increasing the trumpet length by 20mm. I very much doubt it.

obviously you have never experimented. It wont run dangerously lean or rich. But you will notice a signifiacnt difference in afr in some areas of the rpm range by changing trumpet length.

I can email you an interesting report done by a college regarding trumpet length and its effects if you fancy some reading?

What should happen, and what happens in practice can be two entirely different things. People harp on about increasing the trumpet length will give you more torque. Yeah, on paper it will, but every application is different.

Hopefully I'll get the chance to try some different length trumpets in the not too distant future, but experts who know about my specific engine have already experimented and don't believe there is anything to gain by going longer than I've currently got. I'm very interested to see what happens nonetheless.

I'll certainly report my findings, but I doubt there will be a huge difference.

I'll pass on the report thanks.

Fully argee, theory and practical experimentation can often give surprising and conlicting results. Increasing the trumpet length will not give you more torque in such simplistic terms. What it does it give potential for greater torque to be produced lower down in the rpm range, and every second multiple of the rpm thereafter.

These experts who has 'experimented' with you engine spec....are they the same people who built your original engine? The results of that speak volumes about the credibility of any results they publish.

Ah, I see! Haha.

Stress not dear Bicks, I'm not doing anything at the moment with the car. Well, apart from sorting the front suspension this weekend. Balljoint rodgered... Grrr.

And I need to find an airbox of sorts. I'm getting serious hate on this forum for not running a filter on the bodies.

With all respect dave, dont turn into a pug1off fanboy.

Remeber they made a terrific balls up on your first engine, its very easy to be fed 'info' which doesnt have any thing backing it up.

Pug performance were good at this in the day.

Have you got that setup at the moment? What's it like on the road?

Do you plan on doing much UK road driving on that setup?
