It will certainly be interesting mate!
I haven't had it stripped down completely. I had new bearings fitted about 6 weeks ago, at Steve Hill Motorsport. They thought the axle itself was in pretty good condition.

Thanks Ali!
Update time. I love it when a plan comes together!
The bonnet is in the workshop getting all done up. All the edges will be sanded down and filled where required. I have decided to keep it white, so had a look around at different whites as there's literally hundreds! I've decided on a colour called Mercedes arctic white, which is a really clean, bright white colour. I believe it's got a small amount of blue in it which helps make it that alpine white type of colour. Excellent!
The car is booked in with the same workshop to have the work done on the roof that I was on about before. So basically, the fibreglass panel will bond on top of the hole left by the sunroof, then they will fill in the panel so it doesn't stick out, and finally the whole sunroof will be re-sprayed in my car's silver colour so that the panel virtually disappears. :d This is going to take place on Tuesday, and should take a couple of days tops.
Then on the Friday, the car is booked in with Steve Hill Motorsport to get the bonnet properly fitted and pined. I've got some of these coming in the post from Demon Tweeks: http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/produc...code=SHW01606B
I'll certainly get some pics up to show what the roof and bonnet looks like.

car looks awsome mate - love the windows - must be weird looking in your rear view mirror and not seeing the heater strips in the window!
Hard to choose which is the best 106 out of yours and Rushy's - they're both very nice motors

Hopefully he will get his ass to FCS this year so I can make my final decision!
Agree Toadus cars really coming together. Will be interesting to see how it
looks once done. Think it will look pretty track/ghetto style once finished.
Nice work.

Cheers guys. I didn't realise there was competition Jazz, haha.
LOL Rush! What's ghetto style?
I think the decision of re-spraying is a sensible one, as the white panel would look tacky...

The paint job on the bonnet looks top notch mate, but I cant help but feel it
looks untidy like i thought it would...
Especially the roof. Its about weight anyhow.

the bonnet looks realy uneven, also why did you not decide to fit a non sunroof roof skin? there £90 from pug for a roof skin iirc and would have looked neater and a proper job

Danny, the bonnet and all its bits came to around 15kg. The new bonnet weighed in at 5kg, so there's some good weight saving there. I think the whole sunroof thing came to around the same weight too! I haven't had it weighed, but I will let you all know when I eventually do it.
The bonnet is even, it's a perfect fit. I guess you mean the surface perhaps? Well, it's fibreglass, so it's not going to be like a stock bonnet is it. I could have paid £500 carbon fibre one but I didn't... I think the night pics have showed up some curves that you really wouldn't normally see... ho hum... I wasn't aware there was a non-sunroof skin Steve, hence why I got streamline to make me a piece of fibreglass to cover the hole.
Cheers Danny, at least I've got one supporter. lol. I'm trying to build a race car here, not this years entry to max power.
Not to worry Rush, I know your standards of detailing are pretty much impossible to satisfy. I'm still trying to keep it looking cool. Hopefully some daytime shots should help you swing your judgent a bit. It really doesn't look that untidy, honest.
