Default no ecu cover, bad?

I just got a vtr last week and there is no cover on the ecu, I was pouring screenwash in and thinking to myself, if this spills or splashes over the ecu, that cant be a good thing.

I take it that it would be worthwhile getting a cover for my ecu?

While Im on the subject, I got 2 1/2 litres of screenwash and poured about half in, the level didnt come up to the tube thing, I suspected that it was leaking to didnt pour any more in. It ran out today, just 2 days later so I poured the rest in, again it didnt come up to the tube but seemed to be leaking out of somewhere.

Would 2 1/2 litres usually be enough to see it come up to the tube?

hi mate, ive got no ECU cover, probably is bad but ive never had a problem
and with the screen wash i don't think it will actually fill to the tube as that is just a filler, mine starts to leak off before it gets that high up, think it has a sort of leak off pipe somewhere

Base model 106's never came with one and I have had no problems even with water running by them.

Not the case on the magnetti ones, its got a vent in the side with 3 holes in . The bosch ecus were fully weather sealed though hense the 1.0's having no cover etc. I have seen a few water damaged ones but its more due to the to the bottom seal getting knackered due to aluminum corrosion.. which is water running down the side of the case i think.. not something the the cover really protects from.

The early boards had a protective lacquer on the board.. oddly enough, this ecu still seemed to work!
