To wrap or not to wrap?
Alright
Got myself a raceland manifold to accompany my John Ashley exhaust and was just wondering whether to wrap it or not.
Done a bit of research on here and have read mixed opinions from people so just wondered if anyone else had any more of an idea, or stories of theirs?
I know one of the main reasons is to help with engine bay temps but on the other hand I have heard that they can crack.
I think the performance gains would be negligible so that doesn't bother me, I was just trying to find out the best option in terms of heat controlling heat without melting anything or cracking the manifold.
Cheers

unless you are going power hunting with boost or itb's I wouldn't bother but imo I would always do it just because I like the look of heatwrap and anything after that is a bonus

Fair enough........Just don't want to crack the manifold bearing in mind the raceland isn't exactly the best build quality haha

I think personally unless you can be bothered to keep polishing every little bit of it, it starts looking bad pretty quickly, and for me on a daily driven car thats not an option so thats another benefit of the wrap in my eyes. I mainly wrapped mine for the temps as ive got bigger plans though, anything else was just a bonus. Imo looks better though

I used to run a wrapped raceland and had no problems with cracking or anything
By retaining heat in the manifold it's supposed to help the gases flow better. Just watch you don't park right up on a curb as I did and caught the mani, tearing the wrap and it looked shite after that as it started to fall apart

How much on average did you use to wrap the whole manifold?

Oh right, i like it
barlow135 - You need 2" wide and 50ft long (15 metres) You will have some left over which you may wish to wrap up your centre pipe.
Don't get the 20ft length one as you'll be too short.

I wrapped mine but mainly only to stop the manifold from frying the alternator.
Performance wise there is bugger all difference to be had by wrapping.
But as stated it's practical, oh, and it looks great.

Ive heatwrapped my 4 branch on my vtr/xsi hybrid engine, its not really brought down the engine temps by any margin.

This!
We use to do heat wrapping at work all the time but no customers ever noticed any difference. The best way to reduce engine bay temp's is ceramic coating allso looks cool as f**k.
