New French Race Series
It's in it's infancy currently, but the Red Dragon Race Club (who run Nippon Challenge, Civic Cup and a few others) are looking to expand into the French market.
It will mean a new series for Peugeot, Renault and Citroen.
Quote:
High thanks for your contact there will be assuming enough interest of course a race series for 2013 run by the club for citroen. peugeot and renault as we move over from a dedicated jap only club to opne to ther things. Primarily the idea is intially to provide a platform for makes that dont have a dediacted race series in the Uk the chance to run and build one. We did with our nippon series have classes based on manufacturers which is what we intend to do for here then after year one tweek the regs to suit those taht have committed
so your self and any other european race cars /drivers you know of interested in being part of the new intaitive can be part of developing their own series/championship for the future, if we get enough bums on seats there will be tv coverage organised for this also
|
This years calendar looked like this:
24/03/12 Brands Hatch
Indy Circuit Series Race 15 minutes 2x 15 minutes
15/04/12 Pembrey Series Race 15 minutes 3x 15 minutes
20/05/12 Donington Park
Grand Prix Circuit Series Race 15 minutes 2x 15 minutes
17/06/12 Castle Combe Series Race 20 minutes 2x 15 minutes
28/07/12 Silverstone
National Circuit Series Race 15 minutes 2x 15 minutes
12/08/12 Mallory Park
Full Circuit Series Race 15 minutes 2x 15 minutes
02/09/12 Cadwell Park
Full Circuit Series Race 15 minutes 2x 15 minutes

They are not a 'tin top,' so I doubt they will be eligible.

RACE SERIES UPDATE .
As things stand we intend to run FRENCH TROHPY RACE SERIES specifically for
Peugeot Citroen and Renault, and there will be 14 races over 7 weekends at circuits
throughout the country including Brands Hatch , Silverstone Donnington etc. If we
get sufficient interest we will have Tv coverage.
The class structure whilst not set in stone will be provisionally for the initial season
which can then be tweaked for year tow to suit the cars actually racing.
Class A 1601-2000cc multi valve
Class B 1601-2000cc dual valve
Class C up to 1600cc Multi Valve
Class D up to 1600cc Dual Valve
Diesel turbo cars to run in class A
This should accommodate most of the Clio’s , 306’s , 106’s 205 & Saxo’s currently
out racing in other series plus allow for the more modern cars such as Megan’s and ,
DS Citroen series cars.. All cars would run on treaded tyres listed in the blue book.
Should we achieve a good level of support we intend to provide tv coverage for some
if not all the events in 2013

It seems a very open class, i mean if i was to run a vtr would there be any rules on forced induction or tyres... If its completely open then for the 1600 multi valve then youll have to be running something like ross's power with full space frame and a saxo shell dropped over the top, with the floor pan underneath...
Also what would stop someone running last years rally car?

Regs are still developing.
Alan, when I started, I was on the grid for £1500.
Fixed costs=
Car costs= cage, seat, harness, extinguisher, cut-off.
You costs= suit, boots, gloves, lid, ARDS test, license, club membership
Once you've done/ got that lot the costs are variable, the more you race the more it costs.
entry fees, tyres, brake pads, race fuel, travel costs, food.
That looks like a lot, but it can be done on a modest budget. I bet you've got most of the car stuff.

my view would be do not comit FULL until regs are available
my guess would be that no forced induction will be allowed unless it was fitted by maker .
but until regs are finalised you won,t know
I have been conned before--promises of regs to get entries ,then you find they have modded too fill the grids
you can only develop a winning car by studying the regs before you even start building the car
