Default Beware of scammers

hopefully this may become a sticky

As many people are aware some people are recieving pm's from members saying they have items that are wanted but they want you to pay direct into their bank account

Under no circumstances should you ever buy goods over the internet via direct bank transfer or paypal as a gift unless you are certain of the trading partner. if you pay by either of these methods you will not get your money back if goods dont arrive
always pay with paypal as goods or collect items and cash
research trading partner see what itrader is and has anyone else had problems

there is 1 known big time scammer but i suspect there are more

TO ADD due to some replys NOT everyone is out to scam the vast majority are genuine traders
there are golden rules to buying selling the main one is if its too good to be true it probably is
just look after yourselves and if you do get caught out then report it to mods but more importantly report it to the police

i respect what you are saying hear and all of us will be very gratefull for the information posted above

however i do not have a paypal account as i have had a lot of trouble with them in the past so the only way i can pay is into people's account (my own risk)
and also if i am selling things then it can only be put into my account aswell

ovbiously they can send a cheque or come and collect. or if they are arranging a courier then they will have your address anyway so then its not such a big problem as you can go to see them if you get scammed.

but i am happy to give out my full address and details before hand

just because people dont have a paypal account we cant label everyone who asks for a bank transfer.

if your clever enough you can find out a lot about the person via bank transfer anyway

but thanks for the adivse

Unless you're actually like me and genuine... I dont have paypal so would ask for the direct transfer or the cash on collection (preferred) but then again i'll give you every single one of my details so you could hunt me down if need be!

good bit of advice though.

sorry guys not trying to cause genuine traders problems but so many scams going on and people are blaming the site when it's there own fault
and yes i agree paypal can be a pain but it is better than giving cash directly to someone you dont know or cant research

Paypal sucks sometimes because their cost's can be ridiculous. I try not to use it. People get funny when you ask them for few pound's more to cover the Paypal fee.

Well everyone i would just like to update you to tell you that Nik Hewitt has been arrested by Derbyshire police.

I just had a call from Kent police as i was the first person to report all of this.

Good news it seems.
