if a fuse blows it has blown for a reason. You should NEVER replace it with a bigger fuse because you could then melt the wire of cause lots of bamage.

It's a bypass from the barrel which is now faulty this why you have got these 3 not working and by bypassing the barrel the current can complete it's circuit

I've just removed my steering column cover and found that i have the 2 red wires coming down from the ignition but the 2 brown wires are no where to be seen, does anyone know where they would have been moved to if someone else had tried the modification, it's really f-ing irritating cos all 3 aren't working.

Before doing this check it not your alternator as I got AA out to my saxo as power steering, blowers and back demister not working. They noticed that the battery light stays on when you start the engine up and the 3 things dont work but as soon as you rev the engine a bit the battery light goes off and all 3 work again. He said that the alternator is not charging on tick over. Still ok to drive but will get worse so new alternator needed at a later date I think.

Ive just had these three problems, and my battery light had come on too, is this normal?
This might also sound stupid, but do you do this bypass thing with the engine running or not?

Any heavy electrical loads can only be used once the alternator is charging. You could bypass these circuits but if you are not charging you will soon drain the battery and the car will not run. Eventually you will not be able to start the car anyway if the alternator is not charging the battery.
Fix....replace the alternator once you are sure it is that at fault.
