Plug your phone into your iTunes and it will offer you the update, follow the instruction and when it's finished you'll be runnin 4.0 software. You'll be able to do allsorts like multitasking between 4 apps plus that homescreen background etc etc....

No that iPhone is still on 3.1.3 it wouldn't be able to cope on 4.0
