General fitness is defined as "the ability to go about your day to day activities without getting breathless or tired" if you find you do get tired & worn out after your normal days work then your general fitness needs improving.
This can be done by combining cardio exercise (walking, swimming, cycling, running, etc etc) with resistance training (weights, bands, body weight etc etc) Approx 30-40 mins of cardio exercise with you working between 60-80% of your maximum heart rate, and resistance training consisting of 3 sets of 10-15 reps on all major muscle groups 3 times per week. this should see an improvment within 8-10 weeks.
Additionally it is also important to remember that increasing your activity level anyhow is a great improvment, and should be encouraged - considering people can sit down on average 13hours per day if not more...!!
