Default David's 1992 Peugeot 106 XSI 16v project!

Hello Saxp!

Ok so I thought I'd better make a new progress thread for my new project car for 2014! Made a 480 mile round trip for her, but she was worth it! Drove her 240 miles home

The car will be on SORN for a while whilst most work is carried out, so I will still be driving my Saxo in the meantime slowly putting her back for a standard(ish) form . Just thought that it is time for a change from the Saxo, after owning her for 4 years. I will miss my first car

So here she is..

When I bought her:

- 1992 Peugeot 106 XSI in Cherry red
- 1.6 16v single plug conversion
- Straight through exhaust with vtr backbox
- Lowered (80/90mm back, 60mm front),
- New clutch
- Clifford alarm
- Undersealed

Shell is on 110k
Engine is 93k

I plan to work on the engine and bodywork first I'll work on the interior after.
With abit of TLC, I'm sure it'll make a very nice and unique car!

Spec so far:

Engine:

- 1.6 16v Engine conversion
- 4-2-1 TA Technix manifold
- 3" pugsport exhaust system
- JP4 cam covers
- BMC CDA induction kit
- Baker BM silicone hose kit
- Powerflex lower engine mount
- Powerflex exhaust mounts
- 2 litre Mocal catch tank
- 2 x 10" slimline fans
- battery relocated to boot
- Streamline carbon ECU cover

Transmission:

- Compbrake Quickshift
- Griffiths short shift
- Group N Constella gear linkages
- Omex rev limiter with launch control

Suspension:

- blistein B8 front dampers
- Bilstein B8 rear dampers
- 60mm front springs
- upper strut brace
- lower OMP strut brace

Wheels&brakes:

- 15" OZ Superturismo alloy wheels
- 195/45/15 Toyo Proxes T1Rs
- Brembo 4pot Brake calipers
- OEM Federo racing pads
- 283mm brake discs
- Braided hoses

Interior:

- Cobra Imola 2 Bucket seats
- Sparco sidemounts
- 3" TRS 4/5 Point harnesses
- Custom 4 point half cage
- Red rallye carpet
- OMP steering wheel with snap off boss
- Carbon battery box in boot
- Battery isolator
- Volt gauge + pillar pod
- rear 'track style' panels
- TRS Helmet net

Exterior:

- Morette headlight conversion With cold air feeds
- Rallye air vents
- LUKE tow strap
- Streamline carbon mirror caps
- Bonnet raisers

Plans:

- Disc rear axle (raised higher)
- Full cage
- 23mm master cylinder
- gloss black bump strips
- Full service

.... This list could go on and on, but I'll update it as and when!

Some of you may recognise my current/ old car:
I will miss her but if I don't change now .... I never will!

Progress thread for the saxo:
http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=354424

Now the new motor!

It's a 21 year old car in need of TLC. I know the bodywork isn't the best, but it's a project car.. Not a show car!
Overall it's a nice, solid shell and mechanically fine perfect project car!

Progress on this will be slow over the christmas period.. So be patient

What you guys recon?
What you recon I should do with her?

Keep your comments nice please!

Looks good!! I'm sure this was the one on ebay not long ago (around £700-800 with crappy pics on the ad) how much did you get it for in the end?

I was tempted to buy it but couldn't justify the drive! I'm up norf aswell! Should be a good project - I bet it flies!

Thanks matey!
Yeah it was on eBay! The pics on there didn't really do it any justice

I payed 700 pound in the end. I suppose it might of been abit other the top, but I wanted something different and unique, so paying the bit extra for something I Want will be worth it

I've always loved XSI's aswell.. Quite a rare car now. I'm sure it'll make a god little project! Abit of a sleeper too

To be fair, if it was closer I would have paid that no problem. Don't think you can really expect to pay much less.

And it got you home so it must not have any major problems! lol. Will be keeping an eye on this I like xsi's!

Rare cars these now, always liked the styling extras these had over rallyes. I think this on a set of silver 205 speedlines or vts wheels would look great.

Update ... Ish

So today I had a tinker with the XSI. Didn't really get anywhere though .....

- purchased some JP4 cam covers. They turned up and they had sent out 2 covers with oil caps on!!
So I'm awaiting delivery on the correct cam cover.

- diagnosed a faulty alarm siren.
The car has a clifford alarm fitted, but the siren didn't seem to work when setting the alarm off.... So I've ordered a replacement

- removed the sunroof and cleaned the gutters (turned out they were clear)

-removed the headlights and indicators to clean. But turns out all the clips are broke and they were held in place with tie wraps ... so I'm searching for some replacements.

- admired a nice clean arch ...

That's all I got done today ... Other than order some more parts!

Oh... And this is her home for the next few months...

Just awaiting delivery on several parts

your jp4 breather piping look wrong to (well when i say wrong i mean different to mine as obviously there are a few cars that use the jp4 covers)

on my brether pipe work both the little and the big breathers both face up in the same direction which makes it easy to connect them up to the oem air box and t/b

where on yours one goes up and one goes down but you havent got a oem air box so this might not matter ive got soem photos in my thread how i linked the breathers up

Looking like this is going to be a project to follow.
Plans sound good.

I love xsi's ... I am a bit biased

Yeah I'd never of noticed haha!
I'll wait until the other cover comes, fit them and see how the breathers are. Will most likely be different as I'm not fitting a standard air box. Might end up getting a catch tank
