Default Exhaust repair kit

Well second lambda sensor has spat itself outta the downpipe with a healthy chunk of metal with it, I'm thinking I could tape the sensor up outta harms way and let it breath fresh air from the bay, while I use a temp repair kit to fix the god awful noise for a week or two max, would this be okay?
