DivX/avi to DVD convertor?
Anyone recommend one?
Had a try of DVDFab, which seems to take 2hours to convert one fucking file, and x-dvd-creator which fails burning EVERY time.

^^^ there's your problem. Might as well transfer your divx to VHS LP if you feel like going old school.

not enough RAM to handle OS + antivirus + file + converted file + software running the file + anything else you may have running in the background.
Your options are:
Burn your Divx straight to CD, considering they're an average 700 MB in size.
Buy a bigger computer.
Buy a BR or DVD player with USB in front, it will play Divx and avi files whether from disc or USB.
Buy your films, and save the hassle from all of the above.
All that said, I don't understand the logic behind trying to take compressed video files and fit them back to DVD format. And lose further audio/video quality in the process. Sounds to me like a gigantic pain in the ass when the conversion speed takes longer than the film itself only to crash during the burning stage.

Lol you fail, the size of the computer is irrelevant.

As in crushing the same numbers in minutes instead of hours.
Now if you feel like being pedantic, yes the size is irrelevant. Thanks for your input.

The only point behind it is to stick a few films on dvd to take on holiday in case its pissing down - Brittany, so probably will at some point - and the mini dvd player we're taking doesnt read divx etc.
Fuck it.

If you have a copy of Nerovision that is usually bundled with higher end versions of Nero Burning software that will do the job.

Sounds a bit complicated overall just for the sake of a few films. You might as well pack a few originals in your suitcase and bob's your uncle.
Or if you can, take a laptop with you / send your films to a smart phone? Either way enjoy your holiday.

That sounds a lot more convenient than spending days just to convert a few films

convertXtoDVD, best one ive EVER used. Literally works on any format and never ever have experienced troubles with playback on any DVD player.
It not only converts quick but burns the DVD too. Loads of conversion choices and you can make it condense a blueray rip onto a dvd, obviously it will reduce quality to fit it on but its all done in one seamless process.
How do you get it....well, I don't think i'm allowed to discuss that on saxp.
