Default MOT help

Hi folks, just a quick one to make sure I'm not going mad; my 2003 1.6vtr went in today for an MOT and failed (mostly age stuff) but this caught my eye:

Do not drive until repaired (dangerous defects):
Brake load sensing valve seized and ABS not fitted or inoperative (1.1.17 (c) (ii))

I'm pretty sure my car's never actually had ABS in it, and don't think it comes as standard in this model. Anyone with a bit more knowledge able to tell me, or give guidance on if the garage is trying to rip me off?

Thanks in advance!

without seeing the car nobody can tell if you have abs or not, the load sensing valve is an easy job, douse in penetrating spray and grab it with pliers for a food wiggle back and forth.

Thank you welshpug, no I understand it's a bit of an out there question without seeing it, I appreciate your response though.

I'll be checking in with the garage tomorrow to see exactly what's gone wrong and what kind of work will be needing done on it and what else it needs to pass MOT.

It's not an ABS thing, it's a disc axle thing.

Disc axles = load sensing valve
drums don't have the valve, as the hole in the cylinders is restrictive.
