right, ive got 13cm 55rms comps in the front door cards and ive got 10cm 50rms coaxials in the rear cards.

neither are amped, but when i turn up the volume i get some distortion, my question is simply if i ad an amp will the sound be any better when turned up?
if so what amp would be good for powering both, but isnt too expensive.

also i dont have a sub, could the distortion be from the speakers trying to compensate for the lack of sub

It will be able to go louder, not dramatically louder if you are expecting that but louder before the signal is distorted by the amp clipping.

the amp will make the speakers perform better and a bit louder, as you have not got a sub it sounds like you are trying to get sub bass from the speakers so yes if you got a sub you would be able to set the frequency on the amp running the front and rear speakers to to only do mid and hi frequencys, and by doing this the speakers wont distort as much meaning you could go a bit louder.
4 channel amp
Cheap sub amp package
Better sub package

Yes mate but there wont be much in it. I will get a price on the amp in the morning and let you know. Where do you live as if you are close you could pick up and save on the p&p.

im running the exact same setup mate and i noticed that its the rears that distort, so i faded them a bit so you dont really hear them and noticed that i can turn the volume up a bit more

also thinking of getting an amp, not sure on sub atm. maybe with time.

Hi sorry for the delay, I have so much on today. As i said it not a great discount but the amp is already discounted. I can do the better sub and amp package and the JBL GTO-4000 amp for £175. If you can collect that way you also save on the P&P so you will be saving £15.
