Will it fit and what would you get?
Hey everyone.
New member here as of yesterday.
Just wanted to say at the star, I don't actually have my car yet, but i'm planning ahead and I should have it in 3 months with saving money from work.
I'm planning on getting a 2001/2 1.4 furio.
I'll have a budget of 2k max on the car and have managed to find some very nice examples just under 2k.
I've got my heart set on having one.
Well onto the proper topic.
My friend has a fusion am and sub kit he bought from halfords a few months ago.
He's selling it due to not having his car anymore.
It's this kit http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...egoryId_165702 and he's selling it for £75 to me.
Is that a fair price?
Was wondering if it'll fit in the boot of the furio =]
I wanted to know what size components I can fit into the front doors with tweeters?
I really do like the fusion kits as they have a nice sound which is what I want.
Would matching this with a fusion headunit be wise aswell?
Incase you couldn't tell i'm a fair bit of an ICE noob.
If possible could someone give me a run down on what goes where and what hooks up to what etc please?
I don't really want to go cutting panels *just yet*
It won't stay stock for long lol
Anyway sorry for the wall of text and for being a bit of a noob.
But i'm always willing to learn.
Gaz.

xD
I knew somebody would probably say it =P
Well may I ask what you'd recommend for a decent sounding budget system?
I know the two don't normally go hand in hand, but sometimes it works.
I listen to quite a lot of fast music with lots of drums.
Dream Theatre, Rush, System Of A Down and obviously Pendulum and The Prodigy.
That's my main list of music.

I would go for a 10" sub for that

Looking now AshleyP =]
I had a feeling 10" subs would be the best for it.
I'll have a read of your guide and report back.
Thanks.

Not sure if there's an edit option for posts so i'll just make a new one.
The guide helped me out a lot Ash, thanks for posting and letting me know about it.
The first set of components and amp seem brill and would probably fit nicely within my budget.
Jw but would that amp be used to run the comps or run the sub? Or both?
What size are the standard saxo from speakers?
And don't worry, it will be done right.
I'll have one of my friends helping me install all the ICE since he does it quite a lot and knows what he's doing.
Question is now though, what headunit do I get?
Got any experience with Alpines?

Well I heard that because 10" subs are smaller, they reverb less so the bass can keep up with faster songs?
I'm probably completely wrong and it was the worst thing I ever heard in the advice department lol
But honestly what size would you say to go for?
I'm completely open to ideas.
I just want sound quality over anything if i'm honest.

go for a 10 inch in a sealed box! will be a tighter, quicker sounding bass. better for your type of music. Maybe a JL audio 10w3 or jbl gt4-10/gt5-10

its true in theoretical terms, but you buy a 15" built with better components, itll sound tighter than a 10" with crappy components
the music you listen to does have a lot of deep basslines
theres pro's and cons to all subwoofer choices
i listen to drum n bass, but prefer 10" subs, most people would assume id have bigger
8" - pure SQ
10" - SQ, very similar to a 12", but slighly less of a pounder, with theoretically tighter bass
12" - slightly less SQ over the above two, but still tight, and more of a pounder with the ability to produce lower notes, more SPL than above two, and most common choice for the general audio listener
15" - pure SPL, deep bass, often not very precise (in comparison to an 8 or 10)
those are all based upon the "same" sub in different sizes, in theoretical terms
the simpler fact is regardless of everything else, a bigger woofer will hit the lower notes harder, dont be fooled and think an 8" wont rumble your car
for general audio listeners, 10" or a 12" is best imo, choice is dependant on the sub model, and the listener
btw: SQ = sound quality, SPL = sound pressure level (noise)
Quote:
Does size matter?
Yes I am afraid it does! However it is important to understand that whilst it is true that the bigger the woofer the deeper the bass, it is also true that the bigger the woofer the slower it is to respond to transients. In other words..It aint as quick off the mark! Smaller is punchier and faster. True hi fi lovers will use 8 and 10 in subs singles or multiple sets to achieve best results while rockers and clubbers will probably demand the heavier impact of 12 or 15 in models.

Thanks for explaining Ashley.
Remembering back now actually i'd probably prefer to go with 10".
Mainly because I remember my dad having a dual 12" sub box and the bass wasn't as responsive as i'd have personally liked.
That's sorted out my sub inquiry.
Have any recommendations on a headunit though?
Sorry to be really persistant on this.
Just wondering but is it advised to run front component speakers through an amp or through the headunit itself?

speakers can be run thru a HU, but ideally of an amp
the package for under £200 is great on the guide, cheap, and both comps and sub are being slightly underpowerd, meaning the amp can be upgraded at a later date if wanted
headunit depends on you tbh, www.caraudiodirect.co.uk take a look around, and see what features / price suit you best
just stick to pioneer alpine and clarion!
and make sure it has at least 1 2v preout or more

I quite like those two =P
Any good?
Alpine and Pioneer are my preffered since I much prefer the look of them.
As for the underpowered amp, i'd probably spend a little more to get the power needed so I won't damage anything.
Going to be a nice shopping list when I get the cash to buy this =]
It'll be even better when I buy the car =D
3 months and i'm going to be as happy as a pig in muck.

you wont damage anything by having an overpowerd or underpowerd amp, just set it up right, that package is great as a starter package with the ability to be expanded
imo, buying a whole system with 2 amps, would cost a lot more to acheive good quality.

If you're new to ICE and want to get into it, go buy a Haynes ICE manual off ebay, that explains everything with pictures from start to finish.
For the sake of £10 it will give you confidence and a better result

When I get payed at the end of the month i'll look at buying one of those Haynes ICE manuals.
This pay cheque will be the most money i've EVER had lol
You pay your insurance in one go do you? How much are you paying, mind me asking?
The furio quote for me is 2k FC haha
Stupid question, but what's the PAS?
It seems to be a bit of a problem with lowered saxos that i've seen.
And i'm sure it won't be MASSIVELY expensive.
