Default Wiring footwell lights with switch

Am planning on wiring led footwell lights into the footwells, with a on off switch. I just want to see if the way I'm doing it will work?

So I've got a "toggle" switch with 3 pins ( earth, positive and neg) so, can I tap into the cigarette lighter wire that runs from the fuse (positive) and connect that to the positive pin on the switch. Then the earth pin, obviously fit that to a good earth point somewhere. Now, connect the remaining pin to one of the led wires and the other led wire to the earth?

I mite be doing this totally wrong so any help?

That is wrong... u want a posotive from the fag lighter into the pos on the switch then out of the switchs negative into the pos on the light. U want the neg from the light to an earth on the car.

Well that's pretty much what I said but you never mentioned the earth on the switch? I guess that just goes with the negative from the light...

The only bit u got right was pos to pos on the switch... and ur switch wont be pos-neg-earth as on
Cars earth is negative... if u have 3 pins u either have an iluminated swith or a double pole... all u need is to switch the live... so like i said live in to the pos and live out through the neg on the switch to the light.......

Sorry. Keep having to re-read as all the neg pos neg pos is baffling my mind.
So... From the live wire (fag lighter wire) to positives on switch. Then negative to positive on light, and lastly negative from light to earth?
And the switch havering 3 pins, the third pin is to light the switch up?

the 3 pins on the switch will be

Power IN
Power Out
and Negative

wire the Negative on the switch to an EARTH ON THE CAR
wire the Positive on the fag lighter to the POWER IN
wire the Positive on the LED to the POWER OUT
wire the negative on the LED to an EARTH ON THE CAR

this should then work fine and as said before it seems you have an illuminated switch

hope this helps
i also found it hard to understand the above explanation due to all the text talk

although i wouldnt use a switch and just use a feed from the interior light

so the leds only come on with the interior light either when thats turned on or when the doors are opened

so with that in mind i would wire it as follows

POSITIVE on the LED to POSITIVE on the Interior Light (using a fused wire)
NEGATIVE on the LED to an EARTH ON THE CAR

Thats just an idea by the way

Do you understand what a switch does? Why would u need an earth for a switch when the switching is done one the posotive?

Oh and if you dont understand "all the text talk" even though im pretty sure all i said was "u" instead of "you" i assume your too old.

a switch would need an earth if it had a bulb in it so an illuminated switch as i said in my response, as the op also stated that the terminals on the switch were
yes i do know what im talking about having wired things much more complex than led footwell bulbs into various cars
It was the way you wrote your response that made it hard to read, all in one big blurb rather than straight to the point instructions (as i laid mine out)

sorry if i offended you in what i said

Okay thanks for the help. Going to attempt it on Wednesday Last thing, as I'm using the fag lighter as a live feed because icba with getting wire through the firewall etc. would a fused wire between the fag lighter wire and the switch be recommended? Or is it ok with fag lighter already being fused? Thanks.
