Default speaker problem

I just purchased a set of black air vibe 6x9 from someone on here yesterday for the rear of my saxo.

I meet up with them, they tested speakers to show me they working. Ive got back home today and fitted them and to my shock one isn't working right now.

The one that isn't working sound like the music is playing out of a mobile phone.

Am completely baffled at how it not working today in my car when it seemed to work fine yesterday in other guys car.

Any one able to offer anyhelp at fixing this or why its not working now?

Thanks.

It's because they are 6x9's, bin them. Replace your front speakers and amp them.

This above comment isn't exactly helpfull,
I already have replaced my front speakers with vibe black air component speakers and picked up the vibe black air 6x9's to match.

99% sure you have a + and - mixed up somewhere.

Swap them over on the speaker that's playing up and it should sort it.

If not, then swap the speakers over - and if the problem persists then you may have a faulty speaker.

Try swapping the positive and negative over first!

Swapping the + and - over was the first thing I tried. Will try swapping the speakers over and post results.

Oh! Well check all connections then.

I'd be surprised if the speaker is broken tbh, seen as it still plays quietly.

Swap them over and report back

have you mounted the speakers before testing them or are you essentially testing them free air?

Also how did the previous owner have them wired via an amp or directly from the headunit?

THe mutant stereo maybe struggling to power the vibes but without knowing the specs of each thats just a guess

They sort of playing, they 3way 6x9 and I'm wondering if part of then isn't playing.

Idk how the previous user had them wired.

My set up is,

+vibe black air 6.5 component speakers 120watt rms 360 watt max.

+ vibe black air 6x9 3way speakers 525 watt max.

+ mutant MT2000 head unit.

Ive been out and swapped speakers over and the same speaker is still not working right, so I'm guessing it must be a faulty speaker.

From closer inspection of the faulty speaker I can see that someone has taken it appart or has attempted to as a screw in the bottom has been chewed up.

I've fixed the speaker, the problem was someone had done a absolutely shocking solder job on it. Never seen soldering so bad lol.

Basicly what happened is a previous owner had snapped the copper coil were it meets the negative cable on the top side of the woofer and they have tried soldering it without clearing the rubber silicone that holds the cables down so the solder had mixed with the rubber silicone and made a horrible mess.

So I've stripped it all off and re soldered it, tested it and its working and now its the hard part .... Trying to find my tube of Tec 7 lol so I can stick it down .
