Default 106 s1 16v track build from germany

Hi im chris
im 25 years old and work for a small engine Workshop in germany.

i decided to build a new car this year, so i started with the progress in february.

A friend of me bought the car a few years ago and lost interrest.
So i got a very nice 100% rust free s1 shell with 39000km from 1992 in white.

First i stripped it completely and ordered a custom cages multipoint cage

Pics to follow

that looks great.

do you guys have salt on your roads in winter? i've seen so many european builds lately with no rust on them at all.

to say i'm jealous is an understatement

That looks like a tidy shell to work from there . A few years back when I owned a MK 2 Fiesta XR2 I was talking to a bloke from Germany who restored a Mk 2 XR2 , the rebuild was outstanding in fact many ways better than factory new .

Yes this shell is great and will be better than new. Every bolt and washer looks like new

The car is back on the wheels again now and left the garage for the first from february.
this is how it is for now and it was a long way because i did everything on it with my dad.

the rear beam looks a bit too high but its ok for now because i will use 195 50 15 tyres and a few kilos will go back to the car.

has anyone on here fitted a custom cages weld in cage?
