Default Sachshift Hole Question

Hi

fitting my Sachshift today, the large hole for the gearstick that needs to drilled under the plate says about 55mm

does it have to be a round hole or could i do a square one with grinder otherwise i have to go out and by a hole cutter to use once.

I have a hole cutter for the bulkhead.

Colin's installation guide mentioned 70mm - 75mm diameter hole for the gear stick, however, looking at the pictures within the guide it appears not to be round (not sure why this is) I suppose you could always chain drill a round hole then use a flap wheel or file to de-burr the edges. I wouldn't have thought if you cut out a square hole the correct width and length 70mm x 70mm - 75mm x 75mm it would make any difference.

I haven't installed mine yet, i'm engrossed with moving both fuse boxes to under the dash but i plan installing it in the next 4 weeks.

Good luck
