Raunchz: TB Westcoast S - 05/03/2010 (Page 74) - Intake Plenum, it's a big bugger
Heya guys, thought it was about time that I put a progress thread up and put some pictures in of my car - I'll let them speak for themselves - I have done all the modifications to this car, fitting all the parts so has been a huge learning curve !!
Car started off as a standard Westcoast - I changed a few bits on it:
Lowered around 35mm - Spax PSX kit, with Avo springs
Some random Black multispoke alloys - 15" (originally had some vtr alloys on it)
266mm Brakes from a Berlingo
BMC induction kit
E-Tech strut brace
Raceland 4-2-1 manifold
Piper 4" Slash cut back box
Here are some pics of it around 2 years ago:

Where abouts is that trackday? Ideally looking to get the cams in and mapped up then can enjoy the car over the summer.
It's an everyday car and i need it for commuting for my job, have to be careful if was to track it - am on placement so once it's finished in July can give the car a bit of abuse on track !!

Looking to go with a PnP ECU unit - where I'm getting it from is undecided as of yet. Ultimately looking to get them fitted and mapped up by April.

Isn't bad - have the Westcoast 1.4 box on at the moment so not as quick as it could be (good for the huge amount of motorway driving I'm doing lately) - can't wait to get the S2 box on! Was definately a step up from the 1.4, and am glad I put 16v engine in it - don't regret doing it one bit.

Ordered some Piper BP285's - should go fairly well once fitted and mapped up - just waiting to order some new followers/cambelt + looking to put an oil cooler kit together and fit it when the weather a bit warmer. Will get a thermostat in the sandwich plate anyway.
Dont think will go any further than this spec with the engine - might get some bilstein on it at some point. Understeers a little hence am picking up some 19mm vtr torsion bars as has around 17mm westcoast torsion bars on. And the 24mm ARB should help things a little.
Still running standard rums on the rear but braking seems spot on so no ruch to put rear discs on it - especially as just rebuilt the rear beam with new bearing etc. from Citroen.

Was actually looking to see if you had a progress thread the other day because im looking to do the same to my westy! Good to see you made one now, car looks mint, put a lot of effort into it doing it all yourself.
Must be so much better with the 16v in it! Keep it up.

Any one with a basic tool kit + an engine crane, and that could read, could do an engine conversion.
Just worth doing your homework beforehand and buy the right loom/ECU.
Would recommend doing it 100% - especially if you fit it all yourself as probably only cost me £400 all in with new cambelt/radiator/waterpump/pulleys and a service.
Was a bit fiddly dropping the fuel tank to plumb in the return fuel line! Plus ended up with fuel everywhere!!!

Sold the BMC before even considered doing the engine conversion - at the time thought was a lot of money sitting in my engine bay when could have a panel filter and original airbox.
Wish had kept the BMC now!
Depending on how money goes during the year am thinking about getting one of those Streamline Carbon airbox's for ultimate induction noise as not 100% looking to get TB's.

Took me 3 days doing it by myself + learning as I went.
got the old engine out in like half a day - just took a little while to put the 16v in + plumb in the fuel lines etc.
