(Mk1) Black/White 2-Tone 1.Fail (THE END - New Car Pg71)
Well, thought as iv started slowly changing bits, i would make one of these, get some feedback and see where it goes.
Right then, 18, got driving test coming up, cant wait for it.
My parents being the people they are, told me not to get a car till iv passed. Dad said something about having bad geography so i would crash more
Anyway, my girlfriends parents helped me so much taking me to see some cars, after viewing a few different cars, got to this one: (only pics i could take)
54K on the clock, Just been MOT'd, failed on tires, that was changed. Had a new front wing and bonnet fairly recently after some bad scuffs. New front lights for a reason i still dont understand and the guy was nice enough to put enough petrol in it to get from Weston-super-mere back to Exeter.
I loved it, always wanted a black saxo, the hubcaps already bugged me, so there going at some point, but anyway got insurance for it taht day, so i got to drive it once it was off the motorway. Loved it more than my instructors car.
So there i was, my car, parents not knowing about it, all insured and ready. Naturally i started looking for small things to do to it before i passed. Pics are a bit limited as ther cars not here, its at my girlfriends.
Anyway, first up was a nice pair of lex-arse lights for the back, ordered black ones as i dont see them as much, but the egit sent me chrome instead, after a fair few ebay messages i gave up and fitted them anyway:
Unfortunately, before i could get to fit them, i had some break trouble, and after a good day of going at it, had to change the back break drums. So it was fixed again, thank god.
Then just fixed a few small things, washer jet cabling was broken, door cards needed to be re-clipped on one side. The down side was i had some problems with the bag seats and as i cant afford to retrim them, i had to whack some seat covers over. As crap as they look, will have to do.
Next up i was unhappy with the mirrors on there, as they didnt seem to want to stay as i set them (manual mirrors) so i got some M3 mirrors instead. Fitted them today. First one took a little while, but second was done in 10mins. Here they are on:
So thats how it stands today.
Please no comments about the seat covers, when i can afford it, there gone!
As a first car, i love it.

i was looking at the VTS rims actaully, but can you get them in 3 stud?
Other thing is that as iv just bought the car recently, the funds are a little low, so firstly how much as a rough guide is it to lower it?
and secondly does it affect insurance?
cheers

Mate, its all good. When i know how, i might smoke the stock ones. Iv still got them lying around. I quite like that look on a black car. It needs a lot done to it though.
