Yeh, he said asking as he doesn't have to mess about with all the different types and versions of the software he's happy to map it, yet to call him though to talk about it properly
lol, I'll take the figures with a pinch of salt. Will be more about the power curve and how it feels after time on the rollers

OK, some advice on boxes.
Don't bother fitting an S2 box, as it's virtually the same as a VTS box. Wait to get either an S1 or a 1.4XSi box.

The westcoast box on a TB'd saxo is a tragedy - just need the time to get a shorter/sports box on.
I just can't find an xsi box for sale at the moment - found and S1 though . . . . .

No probs, good to see it going to a good home
I've been thinking about how I'm going to use the car from the summer onwards (back to uni) - and I'm contemplating an S1 box as shouldn't do much motorway driving so may as well go for the quickest box. Also, when i get the time and money to trackday it, it'll morel ikely be on shorter circuits so the S1 will be perfect.

Will be a very 'rev'y' engine when it's done !!
I'm just not sure if i should stick with the S2 box, or whether putting an xsi on instead would be a noticable difference?
OR whether the cost of getting a s1 FD fitted would be worth it - maybe £400 including the FD - worth it over an S2 box I already have?

well s2 is basiclly the same as a standard vts box i am right in thinking, and my vts box on my cammed vts i dnt like that much to be fair, as it seem to long as i always seem to drop out of the power range even when give it all!!
so i would say get an s1 or xsi box if you can, but an s2 box would be better than the westcoast one lol as better that really can get annoying!!

Indeed it will, but that's beside the point. It's not worth going to all the hassle for a small improvement, when you can get the 'right' box for a huge improvement.

Am in contact with Mankee at the moment - getting hold of an S1 FD looks to be near on impossible, and I think he's got an XSI FD so looking to get the S2 FD swapped over to XSI, with new diff bearings and seals all round.
I know that the next major thing is to sort the gearbox out - but it's whether to hold out for an S1, or just get my S2 box over to Mankee for him to plonk the xsi FD in.
I'm not going for a LSD in there as the car will be driven 95% of the time on the road/motorway, and don't fancy hanging on for dear life going from Bristol to Bournemouth on the country roads with dodgy cambers!

Not as much as you'd think - I've done everything myself, bought new items from here second hand for less £££, and bought the major parts in group buys.
Like the 4 pots cost me £100, then £50 for discs, £50 for a full set of braided hoses including the rear, £10 for pads, £10 for fitting kit, £0 for new nipples. So I've got a set of 4 pots with new discs, pads, hoses, running perfect for £230 (that's includes all the costs of sending the items to me, like the calipers and discs) - fitted them myself, job's a good'un! Plus then sold me old 266mm calipers and that leaves a bargain set of 4 pots!

I agree, having removed and refitted the gearbox twice I only want to do it again once - hence I'm looking to go for a higher FD than the S2 to try and make it a quicker A to B car, and a more fun car to drive.
I think the S2 would be okay, but I just think I'm only going to change the gearbox once, and from having a Westcoast box I know how important the gearbox is with regards to how power delivery/speed 'feels'.
Bring on the XSI !! If i see an S1 before then i'll get hold of that !
TOAD - I presume you've gone from a gti box to an S1, was the difference awesome? Well worth it?

Yes. The biggest difference you notice is how damn quick you go through the gears! It's easier to get in the power band too which is nice. Not so much bogging down.
It makes every gear feel 1 less than previous. So your new 2nd feels like 1st, and your new 4th feels the old 3rd.

Ring this number and ask for Kevin: xxxxxxxx
The company is called Carparts Warehouse. Last time I spoke to him, he had an S1 box for sale, but I didn't buy it as I thought he wanted too much £££. IIRC, he wanted £250 + VAT.
You owe me one.

Thanks mate !!! I'll see what I can do about a video tomorrow!
I'll give him a call next week and see if he'll move a little on the price as that's a lot bearing in mind how much Mankee charges to swap FD's over.
But then again, itll release a lot of performance.
Looking at the FD ratio's - going from a Westcoast box to an S1 would improve acceleration by 17% , wheras the S2 would be 7% - hrmmmmmmmm.
