Who changed the cambelt and over tightened it? Its a bit shit but 15yrs is a long time for a car like that to last - have a harder life than most!

A Garage in Colwyn Bay, North Wales, so not mine or any of the previous owners fault. The head of the bolt was a bit "ragged", a lad who I work with noticed it, he called it "Shit cheap Monkey metal".
Things happen, heads up for the next GTi I know I call this car a mistake, but it has taught me alot, and its been a weird journey lol.. Rear beam, Coilpacks x4, Driveshafts, Gearbox, Exhaust Mani and centre pipes, Engine bay wiring Loom, No Fans, Cambelt.. Its had its fair share of problems for 9 months in my hands, made me scrape by month by month, yet I still want to pursue the project!
Bring on Summer '11.

I want a 106 GTi running on TB's.. I will pursue that project!
Im not talking about anything like a show car like Fishers or Wassy's, im talking about a Daily Car running a good figure, just to say I owned one.
As the song goes "You got more money than sense my friend", but I don't have that much money. Work it out for yourself.

This GTi was a shed lol
Had some shall we say 'optimistic' claims made about its running order and the work carried out on it.
Nevertheless, sad to see it go. Breaking it was a pig but at least lets you claw some monies back.

Whore time.
Okay, Okay.. I know its not yellow, and I know its possibly the worst colour out of all the ones that I could choose, but its actually quite nice on the eye.
Yes I went out and bought a new 106 GTi in Silver?.
I really couldn't afford the £2800 + Insurance for a Sundance, ever seen AlexB got running his at huge power, they seem to have shot up in price over the forums
BUT, for the price I got this silver one for, which is in near mint condition (apart from a Dent in the bonnet). Its not even been lowered! Even if it did decide to die on me, I could make my money back easily by breaking a few bits, hey, you snooze you loose. Might as well start a progress blog in this thread.
Plans are nearly the same as my old GTi. Will update later with pictures Back up and running bitches!

T reg I know I know, useless without pics, just been a bit busy, put the Headunit in the car, a Parcel shelf without a clip broken, few other bits and bobs, might put some Window Tints on it with the 106oc Stickers on. Just actually pleased that I have bought a car that works. & Has no problems.. So far.

Looks real good Dom, I like it, even if it is boring silver. Get it running sweet and handling well, to put a smile on your face. Plus side of silver, dirt is not as noticeable, compared to white, as I'm sure you know! Hope you have better luck with this one

Thanks buddy! I doubt it will be staying silver for long, just until after show season then its time for some nice changes First things first, is insurance! Paying that off in 1 in 3 weeks time, was down Watford way collecting this today! Engine bay is spotless!
And yep, my old VTR was also the same silver as this, never got dirty, the white GTi was just a mess everyday lol
& So do I, no more car nightmare stories in this thread

Oooo colour change, sounds interesting. So good to pay the insurance off in bulk, you take the wack initially, but in the long run it's worth it. I think I remember seeing this car near my postcode actually, on autotrader if I remember correctly?
