I know how you feel, nothing is going right, no matter how much time I put into this car it just gets thrown back at me. I will repair the cunt and sell up before the winter months set in.

Brought for £1850, spent nearly £100 on the small things (HID's, Spray Paints), will spend another £50 on the bodywork to remove the small stone chips on the bonnet. Exhaust is going to set me back about £300 including fitting then rear beams another £400. All adds up;
£1850 + £100 + £50 + £300 + £400 + £110 Tax (30/09) + MOT (Next month) = £2800.

And if I sold the car, i'd get £2200 Max.

No offence, but did you not expect the rear beam to be fucked before you bought it? Car drags it arse along the ground - whoever did that to it and left it as a 'good job' is the reason your having to replace it.

Shame it's costing you so much, it's 14 years old though...

I was told the rear beam was fine when I brought it, as Tom said before he didn't know about it. I didn't suspect a problem with it until it came to my attention in Nuneaton, where it had seriously fucked up.

Whoever slammed this car on the ground must be a dumb cunt. It looks shit IMO.

On a even brighter note, ordered a Raceland 16v Manifold from Kam Racing & a Kam Racing Centre Pipe. Should sort everything out Credit Cards FTL.

Ahhh man, thats a bit of bad luck, at least when you have a new beam you will have no problems with it for the next few years.

Keep it, looks the tits. Yours may be needing some work but at least when you press the loud pedal, it goes somewhere, unlike mine!

<3 French build quality.

The only thing thats making me want to keep it is to Turbo it. TB's don't seem like the way I want it to go, so a Turbo should see me push 230bhp I will upload some pics this evening of the damage of the rear beam and the Hammerite and stuff. Nothing worse than a progress thread without pics lol

Tbh mate, got to expect your car to lose value, I mean a 5 year old BM could loose 30 grand, they are exec status cars.. Fortunately Saxo's/106's have such low value already the depreciation isn't too bad.

These aren't huge problems.. like they could be worse, simple fixes and you know what they are, how to fix them, and the impact and effect of the problem. How comes you're paying so much for a rear beam? I mean if you want refurbed perfection sure, but you can get a used one in perfect condition for much cheaper.

Unnecessary work? Is it gonna break? If it ain't broke don't fix it? (although again, would probably piss me off and I would, especially if it's a shitty DIY job)

Agree, I want to underseal mine.

All imo of course. Ain't being an arsehole or telling you what to do in any sense mate, not at all, just trying to make you see it's not as bad as it seems , trying to help you see the bright side. I think the problem is the apparent mountain of problems.. Even the niggley things piss you off, I know what you mean mate.

I don't expect to lose £800+ in a month and a bit of owning lol.. Said what I did in anger so I won't be selling this for a long while yet.

I'd rather get a 4-2-1 anyway, just give me the extra nudge to buy one.

Cosmetic though mate? really necessary?

Headlights were shit! lol.. on normal beam you couldn't see more than 10ft infront of the car HID's were cheap anyway

Same for everyone though mate, knew you had to have it same as everyone else when you bought the car.

I had money at the start of the month for everything, now im borrowing £000's

Unnecessary work? Is it gonna break? If it ain't broke don't fix it? (although again, would probably piss me off and I would, especially if it's a shitty DIY job)

It has broke, me and a friend spent all day fixing it, including the fan cowling snapped in many pieces, and the fan itself not working, only realised when the fan wasn't kicking in when it hit the top red on the gauge. I will update with pics in 20mins

Annoying but not crucial.

It is, Oil was nearly full one month ago, Its nearly empty now. Cam covers been changed tonight

Again, could save yourself money by doing it yourself with a couple of mates? Getting parts from scrappies or off here/eBay rather than new? Shopping around? Getting shit from people breaking Saxo's?

Yeah were having a go ourselves. Just the Mani were having trouble with as the angle of bolts in the engine is a bastard to get to.

Agree, I want to underseal mine.

You really should mate, takes a hour or two but makes you feel alot better knowing the car is protected

Another niggley problem was last night, wheel arch come flying off after a incident with a Saxo in MK. Saxo Bashing FTL.

Pick up from where we left off, Start of September

Car was going perfect, nothing at all was wrong from what I have noticed, few pics of mine and a mates old 106 GTI, recently sold to a guy in Shropshire iirc. Look out for it, it a minter!

Now has RS2000 wheels on it.

As I mentioned before the rear beam was nackered, pictures of the damage and cable ties holding my rear ARB in from smashing into my tyre;

There should be tyre wall writing on the wheel, rubbed off.

The Damage from Saxo bashing in MK on Sunday 19th Sept;

Put it back on with tigerseal now, its all good

Today 20/09/10

After realising the Fan wasn't working, Me and a friend set to work on my car, he knows his shit when it comes to 106 GTi's & Saxo's so it was nice for him to help Pulled the fan out, the whole cowling is snapped into bits, trapping the fan and literally boiling my engine, the fan couldn't spin. Pictures of the cowling;

We then put the fan in the other side for the meantime, also cracked to bits but its held enough to support the fan, not seen if it works yet.

Set to work on the rounded bolts along the top of the Cam Covers, put larger locking bolts on these, come out in no time

Found out why its pissing oil, seals were about as useful as a penis in a lesbian only club;

Turns out its not been cammed.

That is all on that subject.

A recently spray painted Cam cover I had floating about went on with quite a bit of Sealent, cleaned it up just so it looks a bit cleaner and now we can see if we still will have a oil leak in future ;

New & Old;

Took the other Cam Cover off and left it for a while, gave us space to fix the wiring, this is the before home made DIY job, what does everything think?

Got the right plug from a Saxo VTS that me and a couple of friends are breaking, Gurdeep and Me sorted it so now it looks like this;

Actually connected correctly for once Put the spare rear cam cover on, not painted as im going to spray paint a better condition one, but I quite like the rear one without paint.. Hmmm.. Choices choices..

Cleaned a few things as well, sorted the wiring a bit, all in all, a great few hours working on the car

Rear Anti Roll bar has been sold, I might have the front one if I can figure out how to take it off, which Fan cowling do you have? Got a link to any FS thread?
