Thanks though mate, alot of cuts, swear words, anger and some smiles have gone into it! Its still not finished yet! So touch wood all goes to plan over the weekend. Im hoping i will have a start up video!
What bhp are you hoping to be running? Could I just ask how did you learn everything with the engines? I seem to be alright on everything else except the engines, the bottom ends are bastards for me! So much that looks like it can go wrong

Hmm, still getting a no from me.. Going to try and save the GTI.

Today is the start.

The Spare J4 engine I have, going to attempt to take it apart and spare the bits I need, after all it would be pointless throwing away a 70k Engine. Next week I have booked a week off work to attempt the build. May have to sell quite a few parts off the GTi to fund it, but hey lifes a bitch.

No cutting corners anymore.

I know im stupid for doing this but Tufty convinced me tbh, I have started a project, I might as well finish it.

Thanks for the support guys Appreciate it alot

Next week im draining the oil (the little thats left) out, flush the engine and see how much shite is in there. The only part of the engine thats salvageable is the head it seems, which isn't a bad start.

Starting to think of the positives now I can't make it worse than it already is lol

Time to make myself look like a cunt.

While in the process of removing the engine, we noticed a bunch of wires cable tied up to the strut, epically weird I know. I had a look, things I noticed that were unplugged were;

- Crank Position Sensor Plug
- Alternator Plugs
- Oil Pressure Plug
- 2 others that I have no clue where they go.

So I am going to apologise to Tom, I really do feel like a right cunt for this. Seems like the mechanics that done the Gearbox, Clutch, Manifold and strut have unplugged them and didn't put them back on, I have been down there and informed them, they are accepting no responsibility. I won't be going back there again!

Seems like my engine had disabled itself and gone completely wild, yet I still didn't know why the engine was tapping/knocking. Which sensor would have made it do this? Pissed off with the garage is a understatement.

Once again, Tom, Im sorry. CPP Performance, Your shit. 2 months of dodgy mechanics and me being around about £1000 down.

Out come my neighbour who works for Volvo, good friend of the family as well, he looked into it further, got under the car and noticed the wires have been ripped out from their source, and had tied them around the driveshaft, which is the reason why the knocking/tapping was occurring, damaging the ‘Brand New’ driveshaft. Fucked off is a understatement. I will let the pictures do the talking. Once again, avoid CPP Performance at all costs, cannot believe the position I have ended up in, wires have been ripped apart after being tangled in the driveshaft until the car cut out. Wiring Loom is basically fucked.

Pics;

What I first saw this morning when moving the car into position ready for a engine change..

Alternator wire, completely fucked, we are still searching from where its been shafted off from!

The rest of the wires around the shaft, this explains it all. Angry with the mechanics is a understatement

He won't admit it, he says "no we didn't touch the wiring at all".. I can't prove it, except from the blatent obvious fact wires are missing ever since driving it out of the garage, 1 trip to Milton Keynes later and its fucked, then 2 short trips to work and its gone.

I have got no evidence basically. Im really fucking angry at the cunts.

Not got a clue what im going to do yet. A Bacon sandwich is what im going to do next actually, should take my mind off the car

I cannot believe the result of all my troubles was something that could have been avoided with a little bit of common logic.

Btw, is there anyway I can go through trading standards with this? I have no proof apart from stating the obvious, but not even thats proof these days!

Yeah I was going to say maybe contact trading standards.

If the guy is not willing to look after his customers, then eventually his business will dry up. I will be telling my mates not to go near there

Bacon sandwich ftw

In terms of Trading Standards, one thing they told me with my last car, that you to need proof that the damage was caused by the other party. Which if its not definitive, you will spend a lot of time chasing something which potentially you might get fuck all out of. A lot of hassle, with massive grey areas, which is a shame.
Sorry for the double post.
