usb headunits
if i had a external hard drive with music on and plugged in into a usb head unit would the songs play?

yeah used to work on my old usb headunit, would sometimes take a few mins to load the playlist tho as had to read alot of mp3s

kk so if i plug my external hard drive into my usb head unit it will defo work!? coz this means i will need to buy a new head unit lol

Depends!! as some External HDD's need External power!! if you get a self USB Powerd HDD then yes it should work no problem!
But for external HDD that need to be powers you mite have to get a Cig lighter plug or something for it!

My kenwood works with my external drive.
There are certain things that are limited. self power drives must be micro ones, so 2.5" and bigger drives are unreliable, 1.75" drives are fine. Talkaudio had a fair amount of threads on it. The folder structure makes a massive difference to how long it takes to load, mine used to take over 5 mins to load with folders 2+3 deep, now with it organised into no subfolders it loads in under 2 mins, good for 300 albums

i found the problem of having tonnes of music and having to go through all the albums on the headunit which anoyed me so i went the aux sterio instead and used my ipod or mp3 player as it was at the time
