Default New Pc

Well, i've been looking at buying a pc for abit now and i finally bought one today, not the worlds best, but it'll do the job i think.

this is a brief spec of it -

pentium intel core dou 2.20 Ghz 2Mb cache processor
3072 Mb (3.0 Ghz) DDR2 RAM
500 Gb Hard Drive

19 in 1 card reader

loads of usb 2.0 ports

blah blah and other bits and pieces

i picked it with xp and not vista, oh and it comes with a 22" wide flat panel LCD monitor which is great.

What do the "into" computers think of it? as i'm not really into pc's, i just wanted one, oh and it only cost me £450.

x1950xtx, - £90ish or more top dx9's 8800GT, better than GTX's poss gts IMO
or the x3870 - £140+

cards priced between £30 -£60 all do the same thing roughly, with minor stuff and added bits.. look for personal uses..
i.e some MAY come with HD support HDMI, some may have more pipelines, high resoloution..

depends, if for movies and film go for HD etc or for games wise best to go higher in price or look for more techy stuff. but go for 90ish mark! then year or so... DX10 will be out with quality gcards for XP when they come up with a DX10 software support for XP as its only for Vista atm!

my everyday machine has the x300se - which is shite! £20 worth if that now which is used for surfing etc and few films, does it fine. tbh mate..
gow tih your setup make sure the whole system runs fine for a few weeks first before u go upgrading stuff.
Do you really need a better gcard?!
your card is prob in range of 40-50 quid? stick with that! unless u wanna play games that pop u in the eye when playing! or watch quality HD smoothing films/videos... then upgrade.. otherwise money wasted!

Well i read around and as far as intergrated graphics go, the X3100 aint that bad.

It should suffice for the 22" screen, as long as you dont try and play games. Because then be prepared to live on low res & low settings.

As for the rest, it sounds good mate. Did you get any DVD/CD ROM/writers with it? Or just the bits you listed?

Personally Id get something cheap and simple like an 8600 gt.
