Default VTR Brake calliper guide bolts

Hi

Just in the process of changing pads/discs and coming stuck early on. Haynes says to unscrew the calliper guide bolts but they appear pretty wedged-in. The 7mm socket bit is too small and the 8mm too big. I don’t think they do a 7.5mm bit so what am I doing wrong? Any ideas?

Have Teves 42 callipers on a 2001 VTR

Thanks in advance

They're a 8mm hex head you can just tap a 8mm socket into them. Will just be corrosion and shit built up over the years.

Citroen say if they’re hex they should be 7mm...!

8mm bit is too big and 7mm has a little bite then spins. Potentially stripped. If anyone has any ideas of how to get a stripped guide bolt out, I’m all ears...!

yeah all ATE calipers use a 7mm, make sure there's no crap in there, tap it in fully, give it a go.

also you can try removing the other one and pivoting the body of the caliper if it'll clear.
