Default hi people, Just looking at building my own pc.

Well, As title... Thinking of building my own Pc for my home studio..

But I've also seen this website Which specialises in making you a custom build pc, You get to choose your Processor, from an intel i3 onwards to a top spec amd athlon.
Then you get choice of loads of realy smart looking futuristic cases.

You can have multiple dc/dvd rw+/- drives with lightscribe, and you can choose how much Ram you want and what operating system you want. Also you can choose a monitor too and of course motherboard, Graphics, Sound cards and everything else you can think of, even down to the mouse.

The one i spec'd up for myself looked more like an alien ware system lol.... It looks really good and ive seen some great reviews on the net about this company.

Im after a new pc for my home music studio, But i dont want to go pc world cause its just overpriced stuff with NO tech support.

The site is www.pcspecialist.co.uk Anyone else used this company before or a similar pc bulid company like www.arbico.co.uk ?

best move you could ever do without even moving. I reckon they're going downhill since I have seen Pcworld shops merging with currys and doing 2 shops in one. Every one I know of agrees they're shit

You clearly need a new PC. Current one doesn't seem to be able to find the correct section

I know of someone who spent his money on something like that recently. £2500, I laughed really hard, right on his face. Apple does the same except more reliable and cheaper.

Building your own PC is a piece of piss, ignore the sites that half do the job for you etc. Get onto ebuyer.com or dabs.com (Both good sites) get the parts you need and it's the last computer you'll ever buy

Sorry my bad. aaaaanyway.... yeah pc worlds support is crap, I feel sorry for the people who know Nothing about Pc's and have to deal with their crap after sales support.

Alien ware are good systems, i somewhat agree that its overpriced, but gamers are willin to pay it... This case that i chose was really good looking.

As for a mac, I cant their far too expensive. Plus i use a lot of programs that i need windows OS for.

My spec was somethihg liek this

Alien ware looking blue neon case
22" Monitor
intel i3 processor ( or i5 cant remember)
4 gig ram
Windows 7
n-vidia Graphics ( but i may just use a mother board integrated as its not important to me )
normal dedicated Sound card ( nothing too fancy as i have usb monitors with one inside so got that covered already)
erm.... 10 usb ports, Wi fi, ethernet.. all the usual ports.
Samsung lightscribe drive dvd rw
1 terrabyte Sata harddrive
Good solid fan to cool it.
cant remember if i missed anything else out but it come to around the £550 mark with free delivery.

your best bet would be to make an account on Overclockers and have a read through the forum. They get LOADS of people asking for suggestions on what to use for a system build so there's plenty of builds you could use.

Why are you getting 4 gigs of ram, a fast processor and a huge HDD, then not bothering with the graphics?

Its an nvidia one HD display .... something like 512 mb or a gig ( cant remember) .... thats more than ample for just cubase, reason and abelton live.

That one adds about 20 quid on the price, there are cards there that add 900 quid onto the price lol.

Look at something like a nVidia 8800GTX. IT's an older card but its bloody good. That's what I use.

Not sure if you could buy new but worth a punt on a 2nd hand one. Won't even be £50 i dont think.

yeah ill check it out.. as i say im not too fussed about that at the minute

Main thing is that it will just be a lovely fresh system ( and if manually built ) not pre loaded with SHIT that pc world pop on there for you. Like trial runs of crap and shitware. lol

And also ten usb ports will be better cause i can ditch this 4 port hub that i sometimes power surge with my midi keyboard lol.

Plus as i said, the fact its a desktop leaves the the option to upgrade in future. with Laptops it can be more costly and difficult.

PC building is easy, built mine from scratch my self, just brought all parts required set about building it, all you need is some basic know how and electrical skills, mynes got water cooling, neons, LEDs, digital screens etc.....
Built no brought is best way

multi track audio recording/ editing, Reason Synths, Cubase VST's.. Rewire
Recording my live DJ sets, Streaming audio/video via shoutcast or ustream, Downloading and obviously other general stuff like DVD/cd burning. and maybe the odd movie and word document or something.

Bearing in mind for people who dont know what happens when you produce music on software such as reason etc, well with synths and effects processors, the more you add, the more strain on your pc.
