Question Rear Brake Pad Question

When we changed the rear pads the other day, we were wondering, what the spring type thing actually does???

we put it back the same way we took it off, but they seem flimsy, i would have thought they should be tight, but what do they actually do???

Thanks

They just stop the pad from rattling around.

So should it be tight, or do they always have play?

They are not gonna come off, but the pointy end moves about?

they should be tight and hard to get them on.
Have you put them on the right way?

Yeah they are the exact way they came off?

Hooked over the top of the pad, and coming back down, wrapping over metal part of the pad?

sounds right, have you got the straight bit hooked under the bend when hooked round the pad?
And have you got the other part when you put it over the pad it needs to slot into a hole in the calliper?

if you look on the caliper there should be a little hole with like a slight slope to it, the other end of the spring goes into that mate

I kinda guessed you meant the front Caliper, as thats completly different, but as i said, they are back in, exactly as we took them out, and some of the springs can move easily, but still no chance of falling out?

Oh Well..
