He's. This is exactly what I have just had with my reconditioned alternator.
The new one has 2 terminals rather than a plug and a terminal yes?
So the big terminal won't be a problem but as for the plug situation, cut the plug off the end of your wire that goes to the alternator, strip back the white one, crimp on a terminal and stick it on the smaller terminal on the alternator. Then just leave the red wire that went to the plug as that does nothing!
