Uni Network and Xbox live? need some help.
So my 360 doesnt connect to the internet in uni halls. I know its not blocked or anything, so is there a way to make it work?
Apparently, I need to connect my xbox to my computer, then download some software and it will work through my computer.
xbox > computer > network
what software is it?
Any help greatly appreciated! I dont really understand how it all works.
Cheers,

Best thing to do, is if you can access it fine via a normal PC is just bridge that connection. Thats only a quick solution, or maybe you run a proxy at your UNI? If so, you might need to put that in the Xbox's network settings...

Cool i think that will work, cheers!.
Only thing is my laptop has only got 1 ethernet port. So i cant plug xbox into laptop, and then laptop into the wall socket.
Would one of these work?

Yeah I'd use the the USB port for the incoming Uni connection and then bridge the output to the normal ethernet port.

you need to assign the xbox with either the same mac address as your computer or visa versa. Run the 'log in' bollocks you get on your computer, whip the lan out and pop the xbox in and boom. sorted.
The other option is a router, and do the same thing with that... assign the mac address to the same as the computer.

I reckon the uni net has very restricted ports, so you wont be able to connect to it. First year in halls it didnt work until they changed it because of demand! Air-go it worked in the last term.
Just my two pence.

yeah as said i think it has to have the same mac address for it to work, as your assigned one in halls.
You could try through a router but its obviously the same problem, most unis block the ports they use so this could be one of the issues.

Try and run an ipconfig /all within command prompt on the laptop and copy these settings over to the xbox obviously not the IP address itself though. Give that a try if not order a cheap 2 port switch of the interwebz that should work....

I had to register my laptop, phone, and xbox mac address before they were aloud internet access at uni. Maybe you need to register the xbox ?
